When axe for comment LPD Spokesperson Ed Hardy stated his satisfaction in the fact that despite tempers being short law enforcement was able to gel before there was an affliction of pain.

What’s the normal attire in Opelousas? White t-shirt and oversized jeans?

Add in some square toed Steve Madden's, bedazzled jeans and express button up over a vneck shirt, and you'd enjoy my upvote.

Is this a leftover steroetype from the 2000's or something? I've been here for 8 years and have never seen that type of crowd.

LPD officials have confirmed that a “concerned citizen” saw a person with a firearm walking in downtown Lafayette and became concerned.

"911, what is your emergency?"

"I saw a gun. My pussy hurts."

Seriously, does that backwards arse state not have open carry?

We are locking down cities now because someone is exercising their right to carry?

In all fairness, not every day you see a baw walking with a shotgun downtown. Working downtown you see your fair share of medically/mentally ill vagrants as well.

Better safe than sorry.

They locked down the downtown area, not the whole city and I completely understand why they did it. We just had a movie theater shooting a few years ago, and seeing someone walking around the top of a parking tower with a shotgun is kind off odd. If something crazy would've happened people would be saying "OMG someone was seen walking around with a shotgun and the police ignored it!"

It's just the day and age we live in. Police have to take everything like this seriously. That being said I've seen people open carrying pistols on multiple occasions in Lafayette and it was just another day in the park. Someone probably saw the guy on the top of the tower and felt uneasy.
