I don’t think there’s been a run on Lafayette.
Again it's in Louisiana.
Louisiana continues to have population decline as a whole while Lafayette has had a slight increase

I guess my point was that he was using the “we’re full” thing that gets thrown out a lot for other areas that have been swarmed in the last five years. I don’t think Lafayette makes the cut to use that trope.
Lafayette people should want people moving there.

Can someone down here make a straight street with normal intersections? How is that so hard to do? It's a 90° turn.
Love Lafayette but damn it, he is right.

Problem with Lafayette is its gateways off of I-10. Louisiana Avenue is nice but University, Evangeline Thruway and even Ambassador Caffery is just horrible.
University is being redone but it is still dark.

Having grown up in Lafayette and after spending the last two decades frequently go back to visit family...

Agreed. If only there was a loop and/ or I-49 through Lafayette would ever become a reality in any of our lifetimes

There are a group of builders in Lafayette that actively work together to keep DR Horton and DSLD out. It’s why you don’t see these many of these homes in the area.

Academically, how does Covington, Mandeville, Hammond compare to Southside, Acadians, Lafayette, versus Barbe, Sam Houston, Sulphur?
Im guessing St. Paul’s and STM siphon off a lot of quality kids from the public schools more so than St. Louis in Lake Charles.

You apparently did not spend much time in the state aside from Lafayette then. Some of yall are so out of touch with how shitty a vast majority of Louisiana is aside from the few decent pockets that have been mentioned already.
Either out of touch or are missing the part where this is just comparing Louisiana cities. Yall seem to see this and instantly compare Lafayette to places like The Woodlands or Frisco.

Barbe, Lafayette high and south side are solid public schools just like Covington and Mandeville.
Acadiana, Sam Houston, Hammond and sulphur are meh. By meh I mean I wouldn’t want my kids there.
Idk why people try to include Hammond in groups with St Tammany. Hammond might have used to be good but it’s not nice anymore.

Every upper middle class family that I know in Lafayette sends their kids to Catholic school. It wasn't always this way, I have a friend who was from a well off family and he graduated from Lafayette High back in the mid 00's, but he too sends his kids to Catholic school. Surely there are some who send their kids to public school still but those people probably live in Youngsville.

Covington High is closer to Hammond than Mandeville. It’s not a good school at all

correct. all have their issues but also all have very good AP programs

sam houston is fine school wise, better than the others. I wouldnt want my kid going there just because of the mind set i have seen from many there but the school it self academically is perfectly fine and much better than sulphur or acadiana
but its what you make of it too. could take top 25 kids from any of those schools and be fine
as far as the question on catholic schools, St Louis is much smaller than STM. since the hurricane it has been in temporary buildings which has also hurt enrollment but they are building a new school. Traditionally many people in South LC send their kids to barbe, even wealthier families. GO to a place like greywood and its still 60/40 barbe to St Louis, maybe even 70/30.
St Louis has always been the more devout catholic families for the most part. St Louis was also hurt for a long time but the success of Barbes AP program which is one of the best, if not the best public program, in the state. St Louis didnt offer nearly as many AP programs and for a long time didnt offer Dual enrollment at McNeese. They do now though.
tldr: Barbe seems to be better option compared to Lafayette high and Southside when you look at who sends their kids to catholic schools in the two cities.

Honestly, who is Lafayette competing against? If you're looking at the biggest cities in Louisiana it is by far the best place to live in. Central location, good nightlife, endless restaurants, growing suburbs like youngsville and broussard. It's not top notch but it beats any other city in Louisiana

I think you mean Mandeville, Fountainbleau, and Lakeshore.

I think you could argue the Mandeville/madisonville/Covington is better
Is that a city?
More like 4 small towns, if including Abita Springs, that combine into a small metroplex.
