Don’t try and save 10 minutes for a chance at a 2 hour wreck on the Basin

It's not, especially if you going to the West Bank or Downtown Nola and especially if you heading there in the afternoon.
Also, your chances of getting stuck on 90 are a lot less than the Basin Bridge

If you’re making this trip on a Friday I’d go 90. BR can be a cluster on Fridays, without it being a home game weekend.

For the past 10 years, I took I-10 2 maybe 3 times. Each time there was an accident on I-10 either on the Basin Bridge or the MS River bridge in BR. Never again. It takes exactly 2 hours 20 minutes to leave my house in 70508 to get to my parents’ house in Westwego.
If you need to get somewhere Uptown Nola, just take Huey P to River Road to the Bend.
I’ve NEVER sat in traffic on Hwy-90. Just watch your speed in Jeanerette and Patterson. There’s multiple spots you can exit right off 90 for food, gas, or coffee without adding too much time to your trip.

I'm on the south side of town, so always 90. Every time I try the basin bridge something happens and I'm stuck for an hour.

It's been a while but 90 used to have more than its share of speed traps. Been there, done that.

The factor you’re overlooking is the condition of hwy 90 between Lafayette and Morgan City. If you have any rattles on your vehicle before you begin this trip you should expect to lose some of those parts. If you don’t have any rattles before you begin expect some upon arrival.
Just stay in the left lane rookie, and most of 90 has been resurfaced. It’s just about 95% smooth the entire way

Not much. I always take 90. The basin bridge and BR are a complete toss up.
this is the way

We take 90, unless we're travelling at an off hour (really early morning or really late night).

Headed to Lake Charles this evening and plan on taking 90.

If I’m driving from Nola to Houston and I leave early enough to beat BR morning traffic I’ll take I-10 the entire way, but 10/10 I’m taking 90 on the way home.

Something about driving Hwy 90 on a fall day and the smell of burning cane.
Posted on 9/8/23 at 10:57 am to Texas Tea 123
Depends on the time of day and traffic. Hwy 90 is usually about 15 minutes longer if there is no traffic either way. If Baton Rouge traffic is at play, Hwy 90 is up to an hour faster.

It took the route from NOLA to Lafayette to finally unite the OT in total agreement on a Louisiana topic. We have all witnessed history here today.

No traffic in Baton Rouge is about 30 minutes longer to go through Morgan City but there is almost always traffic in Baton Rouge. I always take 90 if I’m in Lafayette. It’s interstate grade almost the whole way

I like 90 just for the scenery. You get the farmland. Then you cross the Atchafalaya and drive through the swamps.

Hwy 90 if visiting people Lafayette and Broussard.
North in areas like Carencro or Opelousas. I-10 to LA 415 & hello to speed traps US-190.
Or
I-10 and go surface streets to I-110 and then Us-190.
