Those spots were meant for the truly handicapped members, and we know who those people are. Those of you reading this I hope you feel guilty b/c you should. Do it for the legend and start parking in the regular spots like the rest of us 'average joes' out there, you owe it to the man !

He would let WWE wrestlers work out for free when they had shows at CajunDome. Vince McMahon was a regular.

I've worked out next to John Cena and Roman Reigns there before. Other than a few glances nobody bothered them

I have a family member who worked at LBA and helped with his commercial banking. Red was truly a great guy. I've never heard anyone say anything negative about him.

Ive never lived in Lafayette and ive never set foot in his facility- but even i was aware of Red’s gym…. all the way back to attending LSU in the 1990s i can remember Lafayette people talking about that place… Sounds like he had a hell of a legacy .

Daughter was a lifeguard for Reds in HS. Duties included cleaning rest rooms. Red himself did the first day orientation and scrubbed all toilets. When finished he kissed the toilets as an example of how clean he expected the toilets to be. That demonstration was better than any words he could have said.

Red’s personal involvement and willingness to lead by example is what has made the club so special

The R Kelly incident was a melee and all stemmed from the fact that MD was abusing RK and he simply could not take getting owned by a white boy

I played in a lot of tennis tournaments there as a youth and he liked my mom's British accent a great deal.

This place is a community center for Lafayette.
You're absolutely right about that. I am hard pressed to think of another individual person I know personally that has had a positive impact on more people than Red. He was an amazing person and Red's is a Lafayette institution. I remember going as a kid when they only had three indoor tennis courts and two racquetball courts. I spent a good chunk of my childhood there and have wonderful memories of that place. RIP Red.

I was a long time member in the 2000’s and later. I’ve somehow never heard of this. Any details to share?

Red cheated death a couple of times in that plane until they took away his license a couple years ago.

RIP to a pillar of Lafayette

I remember the day the WCW guys were there. DDP allowed a friend and I to spot him and Buff Bagwell on bench press. It was 1998 and we were freshman in high school. We talked about that for years.

Lived in Laf in the early-mid 90’s. Best time for me to get workouts in was early morning, 4:00am. Red was always the one to open the club in the morning. Typically rode his bicycle there. Always treated you like you were the only person in the club at that time. He will be sorely missed.

Truly a legend .

About 10 years ago he was in the food court . Next to the drink cooler .

And I half heartily commented to him it would be awesome if he would have a certain sports drink I liked at the time .

The very next day the cooler was full of them .

And they have been there every day since .

I don’t even drink that drink much anymore . But I get 1 about once a month just for the fact he did that for me .

I will make it a point to drink one every single time I go for at least the next 6 months as a small tribute

Red was everything we should all aspire to be: kind, generous, and humble. He had a work ethic that every business owner should have - he wasn’t too good for any chore; he just did what had to be done. He instilled the same in his children. A great man who will be truly missed.

Up until the last couple years he was always out cleaning up the parking lot.

I’ve seen him doing this as well as changing toilet paper rolls in the bathroom. He was constantly trying to improve the place. Has a huge construction project going on right now. Bought the adjacent convenience store and is adding on.

I have a friend who was in that basketball game w that gangsta POS Kelly. His bodyguards beat up everyone and this person specifically. He was hospitalized several days.

He sued Kelly and the entourage and made bank.

Shaq goes to Red’s routinely.

Everyone who says there is a health club in every big city that matches Red’s is wrong.

Full service restaurant with very good food open from da n through lunch… legit bar with Cougars, milfs, and thots (w/ fresh spicy popcorn), overlooking the tennis courts… multiple pools (Olympic lap, leisure, kiddie, lazy river, 3 story high water slides)… cool plunge…. Saunas, hot tubs, steam rooms… indoor tennis courts, raqutball, pickle, outdoor tennis (24+?)… outdoor track, indoor track… boxing, aerobics rooms, yoga rooms, acre or 2 of weights, private women’s weights… lots more.

I didn't know Red and was not a member of his gym. However, I have never heard anyone say a bad thing about him. Yesterday, it seemed like everyone I talked to asked if I had heard that he had passed. That tells you what he was thought of in the Lafayette community.
