Lack of mask have turned Drs to the streets

There will be a shortage of medical supplies and substances in any medical crisis in the USA because the USA no longer manufactures these critical health care items.

The USA, in this area, is like Blanche DuBois in "Streetcar Named Desire" -- relies on the kindness of strangers. IN this case OVERSEAS strangers who view the US as an enemy.

In my hospital unit(pulmonary) we are having some of my coworker’s grandmothers sew us cloth covers to go over our N95’s so that we can extend their usage as much as absolutely possible.

Yea currently we technically can re-use N95 up to 5 times in a shift. That may have to change out of necessity if we don’t get resupplied.

At the end of the day, this is just a huge welfare check for certain industries and a bail out of others.

Why not sterilize and reuse the N95 masks?

At my hospital, they are telling people to just hold onto their N95 because they can't get restocked. Some critical areas are getting respirators because the filters are more available to restock. However, the filters last for 3 shifts. At least respirators can be cleaned better than N95s.
