Do you live in California? Why do you care how they spend their Tax Dollars?

Because some of this was like supported w/ federal money. (see article)
Also, just the idea thats its ok to pad your salry for 2-4 years, to boost your average for retirement is BS. (even if its a cop, teacher or firefighter)

At $18.14 per hour they'd make $37,731.20 working 40 hours for 52 weeks of the year.

They'd additionally have to work 46.5 hours every day of the year on OT to make $500k.

Those are some mighty safe beaches, beaches.

I love the red herring of the OT or the board or the site as a singular thing

That poster is for pool lifeguards not lifeguards for the beaches. Pool lifeguards are employees of the Parks and Rec Dept while beach lifeguards are employees of the Fire Dept

lolol..no one gets that kind of overime in an easily replaceable position without corruption or malfeasance.

agreed but this was not some replaceable position. The lead guy was a captain and in a special unit. It is described in an earlier post, but to suggest that these are the same guy watching over Tara pool is incorrect.

Spot on correct.

The guards making that kind of money are pure swimming badasses. They're more than life guards. They're highly trained and skilled emergency rescue professionals. I've a friend that retired from Palm Beach County. He too was an employee ofthe Fire Dept.

He was a former UF swimmer.
The sh.t he experienced and trained for blew my mind. On one occasion a boat hit several swimmers. Saving some and recovering others in dangerous currents is a skill very few possess.
