Didn't think that it required an explanation.

Tax Dollars at work.

You really think that paying lifeguards 500k a year is fiscally sound?

He was the captain, and over half of his 500k came in overtime pay

His salary is 150k. A salary of 150k for a Captain in California seems reasonable to me

Another high-ranking lifeguard shored up a $463,517 salary in 2021. His huge haul of clams consisted of no overtime, $142,000 in benefits and more than $78,000 in other pay, the site said.

More than 90 other lifeguards earned more than $200,000 and 20 of them took home over $300,000 according to the report, titled “Baywatch on pay watch.”

can only "rake in" what people are willing to pay.

Also, wonder how much a drowning person would be willing to pay?

They fact the are counting “benefits” is a huge red flag, no pun intended

I surely don’t count the shite ton of money my employer pays in benefits as part of my salary

Yeah, because you can't find lifeguards for less than 200k.

$150k salary is roughly $72/hour.

So he made $350,000 in overtime. At time and half that's over 3,200 hours of overtime, or over 60 extra hours a week.

Perfectly reasonable, imo

They are counting “benefits” in pay

I know when talking about my pay I include the 100k my employer pays in insurance for me

Well what's the cash value of the overtime then? On the surface, this screams the same as cops who allegedly make $250,000k on a $60k salary.

So 500k to cover 60 hours a week of lifeguard duty?

Only a moron would think that is money well spent.
