So dumb. Anyone could have told you there was going to be a spike. What counts is hospitalizations and deaths continuing to fall. It’s so political

What I don’t get is the level of educated arse clowns I see supporting the moron better known as JBE like it’s the Black Plague he’s dealing with. I get it’s a bad virus. Ok, but the CDC as of today puts the national deaths at 128,024. That’s out of 331,002,651 people. That’s 0.000386706962073 of the population. There’s been 2.74 million cases. The recovery rate...why aren’t more people seeing this for what it is?
Case in point...how the hell does this make sense?

If the politicians keep saying the shite ton of protestors had nothing to do with it, how can they justify closing down businesses again. Oh that’s right, the media here doesn’t question any of the dumb shite they say.

I bet if he does the legislators go ahead and finish signing that petition then JjBE is done for 60 days.

If cases continue to rise JBE will take some measures which will most likely be phase 1. He has to keep that federal money rolling in.

This will happen. Maybe not next week, but it will happen. Every time they float these possibilities, saying they ‘don’t want to have to do this’ and also implying that they have every right to do it if need be, it happens. I’d expect a statewide mask requirement as well. This is what we get. People may choose not to comply (which I totally understand), but government will win this kind of battle every time until there is true resistance. There is no true resistance left in this country.

I wish you were right but the legislators have shown time and time again that they are pussies.

There were no statewide restrictions ordered but he leaned on the NO and BR mayors to make masks mandatory. He did that because they are Democratic mayors he can manipulated. He can’t do that in the parts of the state run by Republicans, (Ascension, for one) or the entire state because the state AG (a Republican) warned him any further mandate would be challenged.

This is about running out the clock until November.

It’s not so much that they won’t, it’s that they can’t. Our legislature in LA is toothless by design. Governor of LA is one of the most powerful, if not the most powerful, in the whole country. This was set in place by Huey long back and in the 30’s. Even if the legislature plays every card, JBE will point to federal guidance and backing to support his measures, and resistance will fail again. It’s pretty simple.

They just passed tort reform, against his wishes, and he signed because he knew they’d override his veto. So they can check him when they want.

It’s going to take a small business owner in a conservative parish like St Tammany for instance to challenge being shut down and have it go to the courts

Yes, but do you really think JBE, a lawyer who is backed heavily by the biggest POS trial lawyers in the state, would have signed any real, meaningful ‘tort reforms’? They tinkered around the edges. He signed it, and now he can say he ‘crossed party lines to enact tort reform’, which paints him as a moderate. It was all political theater for future campaigns. Don’t be fooled.

Their data shows a big spike in cases for low risk young people and officials are concerned about a spike in older people catching it over the next few weeks when their sick college age kids/grand kids go home for the 4th.

So quarantine the frickin older people, make it known that visiting them is a horrible idea. This isnt that hard
