The whole dialogue around legalization is completely twisted.

Conservatives seem to believe that freedoms are only worth it if there's more tax revenue in it for them.

Why not just be for freedom?

A true small government Republican should just want to legalize it and not worry about taxing or restricting it in any special way beyond limiting it to adults.

I've never understood why some people are so against other people enjoying themselves in their free time when they're not hurting anyone else.

Even if marijuana can hurt you (tiny chance of that, but theoretically), why are legislators trying to tell me what I am supposed to put in my body? Especially when they have no issues with cigarettes.

Because very few people are actual small government conservatives.

Most people want less government only as long as it fits their belief system.

Yep among our politicians for sure. When you really think about it, the people we think of as "most conservative" are the people who are most against marijuana.

Looks like the Senate may finally be voting on the flower form MMJ bill (HB391) today.

And it passed.

As long as Delta 8 is legal in LA, I wouldn't worry about anything else.

Diet THC is great. It's discreet and legal. Good stuff

BTW I did have a long conversation with Rep Wheat week before last, kudos to him for actually calling me

we didn’t get anywhere but he does believe legalization is inevitable. I got the impression that many of his peers are inclined to wait until Congress legalizes

What’s the deal, is medical going to be legal or will it not pass?

Which, to me, is the most frustrating aspect of this. The frickers opposing legalization freely admit they will eventually lose the battle. But instead of getting out in front of something for the first time in louisiana’s existence they choose to just let the next guy figure it out. All to the detriment of our state.

Which is never going to fricking happen. Too much money to be made making busts over half a spliff.

Yeah, Dr. Wheat is good about calling back constituents, I'll give him that. He's still spineless.

This law doesn't do much of anything. Yes it lowers penalties for basically 1/2 a bag or less.
But possession remains a criminal offense and brings a criminal record. A Misdemeanor (which mere possession already is) is still a criminal offense.
If they made it a petty offense, that would be real progress.
