Is legalization dead in the water since they focused on decriminalization? Or are you just guessing that we were only getting one and not the other?
I don't have a lot of hope, but I keep telling myself that maybe this is just a trial balloon for the recreational bill and we still have a chance.
I agree with the rest of your post, too. No point in decriminalization if I can't grow it or buy it.

SB 143, Louisiana’s original medical marijuana bill, authorized treatment for the following conditions: Cancer, HIV/AIDS, Wasting Syndrome/Cachexia, Seizure Disorders, Epilepsy, Spasticity, Mutiple Sclerosis, Muscular Distrophy, Crohn's Disease. In 2018, two more bills passed making more diagnoses eligible, including Autism Spectrum with certain circumstances, Chronic Pain, PTSD, Severe Muscle Spasms, Parkinson's Disease, and Glaucoma.

I watch the Q&A yesterday on bill 391 as it was with the Health & Welfare committee.
J. Rogers Pope, Republican District 13
Said "Until my personal convictions change, I cannot vote in favor."
These assholes are so disconnected they think they are there to vote via their personal beliefs (aka, how the sheriff's association paid him to vote).

Too bad his personal convictions aren't related to liberty.
These people are the relics of the moral majority, they'll be gone very soon.

Won't be long till these old fricks die out and give the people legal weed.

until younger generations grab the majority of the legislature i wont be surprised if this type of bill keeps failing, just need to vote the dinosaurs out, im happy the mandeville district smartened up but it's no surprise

Do these arse fricks believe they are there to put forth their own beliefs, or the will of the people? I swear these idiots don’t know what the word representative means.

Minnesota voting to legalize and expunge today.
It’s expected to pass
VA and NM already legalized earlier this year
Get in front or get out the fricking way

The big vote on HB699 is tomorrow... if it doesn't get delayed again. However, the Senate is voting on HB514 today, which is a tax on medical marijuana flower. If it passes, I'd have to guess it's pretty much a guarantee that HB391 (the law allowing medical flower) will pass as well.

I don’t see them passing recreational if they pass medical. It would make medical moot. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

Not necessarily. Likely, there would be a big difference between the potency of recreational vs medical. There’s also the question of who would get to grow and sell the weed. Medical has a tightly controlled system with a duopoly of growers and a small network of licensed pharmacies. That cartel will be lobbying heavily for recreational to have to work within the same framework, where they still get to be the only growers and sellers.

This is a problem. If this system is extended to recreational, the whole thing is shot before it ever begins. It would be par for the course Louisiana.

So far, I'm only moderately impressed with medical's variety. The tinctures don't do shite and the oil is twice street value.
