Why would they be against this?
The amendment allowed sports betting at places that allow video poker (2800 locations). Reporters making it seem like there were other amendments ("heavily amended bill") but I don't know what other amendments there were.

I heard the head spokesman for this group on Tommy Tucker last week. Jumped right into why this bill was not distributing the money equitably, and how the tax structure couldn't handle it. Tommy also pointed out the whole moral issue, and he was prettymuch like "oh yeah, that's bad too."

Probably worse off as the Democrats have 0 morality. But I vehemently disagree with the vote here. This state is so fricked.

Just think - All the proceeds could go to fixing the infrastructure, schools, unemployment etc etc etc.
Just like the Casino money did

If I remember right he said all of the problems created by gambling addictions would far surpass any tax gains. He was just sticking to gambling bad and think about the children talking points.

generalization much?
the same people who post "jesus take the wheel" and "let go and let god" every 5 minutes on facebook are desperate to prevent people from doing things they don't like and will make laws if necessary in order to do so.
it seems like it would be more christ-like to let people use their free will (to an extent) and then let God sort it all out at the end.

And Democrats want to control my money, healthcare options, the vehicle I drive, guns, my air conditioner etc.

Neither one of these are similar.

I agree with you, however, what part of the Democrat party platform right now is steeped in morals?

You literally just did the very same thing regarding the Republicans.

It's Louisiana. Does this surprise anyone who has followed Louisiana politics for more than 5 minutes?
I don't blame the crooked politicians. I blame the idiot voters who are too ignorant to succeed at anything except sucking crawfish heads.

Its not about morality and I would bet many dems voted for this also. The main issue is they havent figured out a way to pick the winners and losers of the deal. As soon as they figure out how to do that they will pass it.

They literally had zero to do with the bill failing other than looking like idiots in their speeches. It failed because of the video poker lobbyist are greedy fricks. It was amended from 20 outlets to 2,800 and the LA casino commission could not support. Leading to No votes
Instead of just voting no, those fricks added on the amendment knowing it would fail. Not everyone who voted "No" today is against sports gambling. They're against the bill as it is in it's current state. Some are FOR the original authored bill, but they can't support the bill is the LA casino commission is against it.

if you don't think gambling is the road to the debbel then it doesn't matter how many places you can make a bet in.
degenerate gamblers should be able to bet on LSU at Circle K for all I care. this state needs the money.

I'm for sports betting but every place with a poker machine shouldn't be able to take bets
That's ludicrous
