New metrics today:

New Cases: 2,075 (over two days)

Hospitalizations: 1,638

Deaths: 25

On January 12th, there were 2.035 hospitalizations which means that number has dropped by nearly 400 in thirteen days.

Looking at the dramatic fall of cases across the Midwest over the last month, it seems that the worst of this winter wave may be behind us.

FWIW, our neighboring states are experiencing the same drop in cases.

Now that Biden is in, we won't have to hear about the ominously predicted 19th wave.

Who knew the cure for COVID was swearing in an octogenarian with Alzheimer's?

And pretty much all of the tests were PCR tests so not sure if those that are positive follow the new metrics or not

Amazing. It's like the virus goes up then it goes down. Up and down. Like a virus tends to do.

So we can let the virus run its course and take reasonable precautions. OR we can shut everything down, destroy the economy, harm kids' development, and instill mass hysteria amongst the populous.

Whichever works for you.

its trending down everywhere

Highly predictable what JBE will do next:

"Numbers are looking better but we are very far from out of the woods. Still need to continue what we are doing and be vigilant."

He will extend the current order through February.

when does the current order expire?

and I think you are right, although I don't know of any place that went back to Phase 2

everywhere seemingly just stayed in the modified Phase 3 that we were in prior

The 28th I believe.

Edit:

February 10th.

I believe the 28th might be the current Orleans Parish order.

We still never reached the all time peak hospitalizations from the first peak in the spring.

The whole thing is a sham. I don't care about cases if it's not sending the masses to the hospital.

But Biden said the current upward trend of the virus was unstoppable. The guy cannot get anything right.

Did you miss where testing has changed in an effort to eliminate the high numbers of false positives?

The numbers were all but guaranteed to drop after that.

Oh this is why it was changed an hour after the inauguration of Biden?

When did this change? I have a pretty good guess.
