The krewe not defending the riders probably says enough.

That's the Krewe riding out the story and hoping it all blows over, lol.

With as vague as NOPD was in the presser, today, I suspect the next headline we see is that Krewe of Carrollton has identified the 1 or 2 aggressive throwers after internal review and they have been dismissed from the organization, without any additional explanation or identifying the members.

Probably the smart thing to do.

Them saying nothing happened and then the pics of that little girl go viral would be bad optics. Whether the girl being hit was intentional or even done at their parade.

It can be accidental though stupid. My BIL was riding in my float in Thoth and thought he was being nice by tossing a large bag of stuff to a young boy in front of Children's in a wheelchair. It hit the boy in the face because he was a paraplegic who could not lift his arms.

I have seen people's own aggressivness cause them to get hit. I was handing a large bag o items down to people I know. This woman was rushing the float, knocked into the person I was handing it to and it ended up hitting her in the head.

It is Mardi Gras. Be aware and if you do not want to get hit by anything watch from the back,

Most people who ride are not rich and spend a large chunk of their disposable income to help put on the "Greatest Free Show on Earth" They love it and is a big part of their year. A large number of the 42 taken off had nothing to do with any incident. They probably did not even see it because with those masks on you have little peripheral vision.

Yep. All true. Good suffer with the assholes. Hopefully they take it out on the guy who got them in trouble.

NOPD said they did it.
Perps are silent and took their punishment.
Krewe hasn't defended them.
Random accounts say they did it.

Honestly haven't heard any accounts saying they weren't doing it. Just conjecture based on could haves.

I have no opinion either way. The NOPD also said they did not have the proper barricades before the NYE massacre.

Of course the perps are silent.

The Krewe cannot defend them without risking future issues with permits and police protection.

Random accounts said Covid started in a wet market.

It just strikes me as odd that in 2026 there are no pictures or video. Were the bodycams off? Car cameras?

No one is debating it happened yet we want to spend NOPD resources proving it happened.

Putting out an accurate statement on what happened instead of some vague explanation and letting rumors run wild isn't going to blow up the NOPD budget and isn't all that difficult.

Something like this could have been immediately released after the incident and squashed all the internet rumors before the got started.

Our officers were notified of aggressive throwers / hit by aggressive throwers / incurred damage on a police cruiser by aggressive throwers from Float 10 in the Krewe of Carrollton parade.

The officers could not identify the specific rider(s) responsible, but in the interest of public safety, our officers stopped the float and questioned the Float Lieutenant / riders to determine who was responsible for the aggressive throwing. When no one rider took responsibility, our officers determined it was best to remove all riders on the float from continuing in the parade to avoid any potential issues later in the route.

No criminal charges will be filed and the incident was reported to the leadership of the Krewe of Carrollton, who will determine the proper disciplinary action subsequent to the performance of an internal review.

So you want them to issue a statement just like the one they did.....oookkaayyyy.

Pretty much what was said at 4pm on Sunday. Reiterated yesterday by the chief. Maybe a third presser and you get to ask them your specific questions?

Maybe my issue is more with the news coverage than the NOPD press release and I missed some NOPD explanations.

It would just be nice to get a little more clarity on "aggressive manner" and if they actually saw it or if something or someone was damaged or hurt prior to stopping and ejecting an entire float.

I guess it ultimately falls on the perpetrators not stepping up and taking the blame. This wouldn't have even hit the news if it were just 1 or 2 guys getting removed from a float.

NOPD states no officers injured or police property damaged

The conjecture that this may be overblown or making an example by city/cops could well be true given as time goes on things are being walked back and no footage exists of whatever the issue was. Krewe is probably playing it safe by keeping statements to a minimum to stay on good side of city parade permits and cops. Was someone on float probably being a shithead? Sure. Was a whole float targeting cops and minority children and all the mentions of felony battery and damage to official property made by police unions, AGs, Mayor, Lt Gov, and a US Senator accurate? Bit of an overreaction and social media snowball effect I’d say.

If there’s no damage NOPD owes a major apology to the krewe of Carrolton.

They had the attorney general making statements over what now sounds like complete over reaction. They cost some guys a whole lot of money by pulling an entire float off the route.

NOPD is saying the only reports of an injury were from a girl who got hit by a toy spear and no damage to police or vehicles.

That’s a hell of a lot different than the entire parade was aggressively launching beads at minorities and throwing things at police.

The NOPD said that they were removed for throwing at police officers.

Does this statement contradict that?

You can be aggressively thrown at or hit and not be injured. I think everyone has been hit with beads or throws and not been injured.

I don’t know how many know just how much power NOPD wields during Mardi Gras. Your escort from your den to staging area is a hour late? Tough shite. You go when we’re ready. They dictate the flow of the parade and whether or not a broken float gets to be fixed or is pulled off on the side and removed from the procession. Even if NOPD is wrong here there is no way the Krewe wins a public battle with them without feeling eternal repercussions.
FWIW at float loading the past few days where many members know Carrollton members, and there’s been very little inside scoop that has surfaced. Seems like a tight lid on the whole situation or maybe there really is no video or further insight.

I am starting to wonder if this was a gross overreaction driven by ego. If I am on the other side of the float I want compensation for my ride being ended

just knowing the amount of shite they let slide during parades, the "incident" was likely bad enough to justify the reaction. Ive seen them stop floats and pull individuals off, but never eject a whole float...

Compensation...the city will just give them the bird..

From what i've heard from sources inside NOPD and KOC, one girl got hurt accidentally, nothing was targeted at Cops and the whole thing was an overreaction by Cops and "BS". This comes from a Cop who was involved. It's starting to look like the situation was definitely racially motivated, just not in the direction they said it was.

Looks like the snoopy float in Thoth was pulled for throwing “aggressively “ as well.
