This seems like an overall solid win.

They had him dead to rights. There was no reason to make this deal other than financial and two of the families allegedly not wanting a trial. Why would 2/4 families get to make the decision for the other families and the DA? If this was done because the families wanted it, why weren't the families consulted?

This was as open and shut of a murder case as possible in as solid of a red state as exists. He was not getting off the hook. Now he escapes with life in prison with no details or motive having to be shared. Due to the high profile and violent nature of the case, he'll likely be kept in his own cell without even a chance of prison justice taking place. Its insulting.

I wonder why the prosecution made a plea deal. Seemed like they couldnt have gotten a guilty verdict easily.

Prosecutors always seek the path of least resistance. Their job is to get convictions not justice.

Per some of the families, they were not consulted. They received a letter advising this was going to happen without any warning.

I read or heard that the defendant's attorney requested a plea deal about a week ago, I believe. The prosecution may have offered one earlier, but I don't know if that's the case.

The defendant lost some motions recently. I think they were going to try to enter his autism in some way and that was denied. They also wanted to bring in some alternative persons who could have been the killers. That was denied. I think there was a third one that was denied as well. The defendant had nothing. The prosecution had everything.

Plea deals in death penalty cases aren't rare since going for the death penalty can be a bargaining chip for a defendant and save the state a trial.

Tbh, after watching a Netflix doc about the father who smothered his daughters and strangled his wife I remember the victims families saying in court that "he chose to end 3 lives, we don't want to make a choice to end a life like he did, so we support the plea deal for life presented by the DA." Or something to that effect. I get both sides, wanting equal justice but and not wanting to be compelled to be the decision maker on ending a life after losing someone. I think the argument about tax payer money for spending life vs an immediate death sentence gets overblown. I know it costs the taxpayers but when people think about their life expenses no one ever says "dang, they sentenced another inmate to life instead of just killing them, that's another expense we have to account for. Babe, can we afford this? "

At least no one I've ever met..

It's possible they reached out to all families and not everyone agreed because it's a tough call and people feel strongly about their side.

My hope is that he's in a tough prison and is miserable for the rest of his life. That's a fate worse than death.

I hear what they do in some cases like this, is charge them for a fraction of the murders like 1 or 2. For the sole reason if they lose the case, they can charge for the other murders next. Not sure if this is considered double jeoprady or if it's true. Just heard it.

Dude must've gotten so many unread text messages he sent to girls and left on delivered to get to the point of wanting to kill 4 white sorority girls. Just lower your standards man and get with girls who aren't what every guy wants. You not doing that ended up that you're in prison for life. Tbh, I have less desire for sex every year I age. It's not the end all be all that you have to have a hot girl. Can't think of any other reason why he'd do this than that.

A lot of people do not think that is happening here.

Why? Why other than this board's irrational blood lust is 4 consecutive life sentences without parole and waiving appeal rights not "justice"?

The family can move on with their life and continuing the healing process and not have to have these wounds reopened via a trial and then 18-20 years from now again when the execution occurs.

10 years from now Kohberger will be forgotten as he rots in state prison.
