So how long before someone jumps in and mentions that completely false tale that Lincoln Parish is dry and anyone caught drinking gets arrested on the spot?
It's not but it's a whole different world up there. I wasn't until right after I moved there that they allowed restaurants to serve booze on Sundays.
If you want liquor or wine, you have to technically cross the city line into Grambling. And up until a year ago it was a complete no-go for booze on Sundays.
There's basically 3 bars in town. Sundown for the older folks, Dawg House for the frats, and The Rev (Rabbs) that everyone drunkenly drives to at midnight because the bars in Ruston city limits shut down at 12.
Anytime somebody tries to change this, the Baptist preachers put up a huge fight and usually win.
No thanks. Tech is a great school, but the 5 years I spent in Ruston were more than enough.

Yeah, but their football team isn't as good as LSU, so screw em.

I read their list and the only possible reason GT is only #9 is because of the 4 year grad rate.
Well shite, they let people in in an egalitarian way (and still only take 32%) and make them earn getting out. That salary indicator way to the right is way higher for GT. It is number 1 if you are smart enough and persistent enough. It just takes 5 years for a lot of people.

Nobody argues against Tech's academics. You will get a great education there. However, anyone arguing that the college experience is better in Ruston (or is any way comparable) is delusional. The college has less than half the student population of LSU, Ruston has a fraction of the population of BR, BR is only an hour from New Orleans (the Mecca of party towns), and LSU sports teams are much better, in general. LSU is simply more fun, if you enjoy people and food and energy and sports. Education is also what you make of it. You can get a fine education in BR, as well.
Just bein' real. People don't go to Tech for a lively college experience.

is that tall building with President's office in it?
Never really ventured far off from business school in my year there.
Was interesting thought that Professor was your guidance counselor. Definitely more hands on.

Was also in Nelson and Caruthers.
Was in one of the tv rooms when that guy jumped off the roof of Nelson one night in '85. He was in my QA class

Rabbs is actually in Grambling, there is also Ponchatoulas that's downtown. Bars in Ruston close at 2 now, not midnight.

My Mom, Sister and I are all graduates of La Tech so I'll agree with this.
Good Day

Tech Grad. LSU fan here.
Sure BR has much more to offer as far as the "college experience" but if you are involved (either sports or Greek life) you will have a hell of a time.
Plus..how many of you guys have batted for the cycle at LSU? Yea its easier at Tech with only 6 sororities

It's called something else now, I think it's just a liquor store now, not actually a bar.

yeah...I'm not denying BR is a bigger city with more to do and the sports are obviously on a different level
but partying?
its college...all you need is chicks and alcohol and you are going to have a good time no matter where you are

Yes. The building is not up to code and has an asbestos problem. Cheaper to tear it down and build new. I've see renderings of the proposed replacement building and looks good

There are so many new buildings. The apartments make me immensely jealous and the new Nat looks amazing.

Is now the Revelry, with the restaurant portion becoming Beau Vines (much higher grade food than the old Rabb's).

met a cute chick from Tallulah at graduate school whose older sister got preggers at Tech. She said well not much to do in Ruston
I should have tried to hook up with this chick, but I got hung up that she didn't agree her subject and verbs. It is really ridiculous I was judgmental about that if you have ever tried to read one of my post.

Really enjoyed my time in Ruston. Not a party town, but it has a great laid back atmosphere. LSU is a kamikaze and Tech is a draft beer. Probably where I'll retire if I stay in Louisiana.
