Kindle Fire, but just bought the paperwhite on Primeday.
Between buying, Kindle Unlimited, and library apps, you can have an big selection of books ready to read.I also like to read in bed, so the Kindle eliminates the need to have a lamp on and piss off the old ball and chain.

Same here...between work, Twitter on my phone, and just browsing the web, I need that break from a screen. The Paper White or whatever from Amazon isn't a traditional screen and is fairly easy on the eyes but, in my head, it's still just another electronic device I'm tied to...books are my respite from modern life lol

Is it worth it ? I mean the answer is obviously yes if you read a couple books a month . I'm just curious how often do you want to read a book and it's not covered by unlimited and you have to come out of pocket anyway?

I have tried e reading a few times and I always come back to the hard copy books. Hard to explain why, just prefer the actual book.

Real books. I still love going to a bookstore or a library and just wandering around looking at books. I don't get the same satisfaction from "wandering around" online

Certainly the kindle/tablet is better for travel, but it is nice to have a physical book for home reading. Besides, how am I supposed to show off my intellectual prowess without a library?

Real books. My hand cramps reading something that thin.

You have a point. I usually read a few Unlimited titles a month, then not a one the next. You can borrow up to 5 books at a time though.

I may have worded that kinda weird. I was actually asking you.. do you want to read a book sometimes and it's not covered by unlimited?

I like the smell and texture of a brand new book. Plus, it's nice to have something physical to put on display once you finish it.

That said, ebooks are nice for reading in less than ideal lighting conditions,

It's kind of like an HBO subscription, after a month or two, you've seen everything you've wanted to see, but stick around for new releases.

Most new releases aren't covered under the "unlimited" umbrella - it's not everything Amazon sells. So, it's rather limited, ironically.

Get it for a couple of months, read what you want to read, then cancel it.

Prefer my Kindle Paperwhite.

I can preorder new releases and read them without having to remember to go fight through traffic and crowds to pick them up. I can also carry several books with me for convenient reading and keep my go to books I reread all the time on standby with me at all times.

I even have a cheap basic kindle (with parental lockdown set up) that I can use to lend my collections to friends. Call it my "Lendle."

I have an original Nook which I use on rare occasions. I like the utility and the storage capability, even though I don't have a whole lot on it.

I still prefer physical monographs for many of the reasons stated in this thread by others.

I am not doctrinaire about this, whatever works for you, and certainly BOTH have their advantages both physically and physiologically. It's definitely a both/and situation and not an either/or.

As an academic librarian, physical monographs are still very much in favor, here, among faculty and students (graduate-level.)

Tablet easily.

I always have enough light to read.

I can change the font so I don't have to wear my reading glasses to read.

The app has the spot I left off always saved across every device that I own.

I get new releases the minute they are released without going anywhere.

I much prefer books. Tablets are OK, but to me, there is just nothing quite like the feel of a book.

I bought a Nook several years ago and love it. Benefits are many, just off top of my head...

> Don't end up with boxes and boxes of read books.
> Never leave home to purchase new books.
> Features such as light adjustment, built in dictionary, easy navigation of chapters...
> Access to internet on same device to search authors, etc.

you should check out bookbub.com if you read a lot. They have great deals and lots of free books. It's also a great way to learn about and read new authors.
