Another weak argument.

This isn’t a debate. It’s my kid. You are a self righteous frick, or do not have kids and are trolling, or you have kids that will abuse the shite out of social media because you’ve made it such a forbidden fruit, or you have kids who are now adults which leads me back to the self righteous prick opinion.

Do you often try and discuss in-depth parenting issues at parties? I don’t.

You don’t discuss your kids? I can see why you wouldn’t discuss things in depth. You’re an arse. Your wife (if she hasn’t left your miserable arse) probably forbids it.

Idgaf about tablets but i restrict internet use (youtube etc)

NO PHONES UNTIL THEY CAN DRIVE. They don't need that shite. Coworker is in therapy right now bc his 14 yo daughter used her phone to sneak out the house in the middle of the fkn night. Did he take the phone away? Noope. Stupid. It wont end well.

Meanwhile ive kept the phone thing at bay with my oldest and he couldn't give 2 shits about it or social media.

My son has both, but no service wifi only. We monitor everything and limit what he can do.

Mine had a tablet and he is 3.5. The reasoning is sometimes its the only way to get him to sit still for 5 seconds. We also travel a lot and it's about 10 hours each way back to BR, so it helps entertain him.

He has unlimited internet access but only uses YouTube.

Yep, nothing wrong with it as long as parents are involved. Kids need phones these days, and computers aid in their ability to learn.

Yes, especially at the ages of 11-14, something like being in an environment where 99% of the student body has a cellphone and one kid does not can be deleterious to their school performance.

Schools are doing a lot with apps, even submitting work and quizzes. Its a huge plus if you have access and are savvy enough

im not trying to judge because I just don’t know since my kid is only 1yo…. But I hope to god to never get to the point of handing him a tablet to keep peace. Sounds like a bad recipe.

He’s yet to watch anything on tv or be in a room with a TV in or a tablet or a phone and we hope to keep it that way.

None of them watched tv until they were 2 years old. No video games til they were 6.

Both my daughters got phones when they turned 11, but they could not have any social media. We also monitored their texts (my wife received their texts on her phone as well). This was at the age where a few of their friends had phones, so they were only allowed to talk, text, and FaceTime.
Fast forward a couple years later when all their friends had phones, the excitement of having a phone was gone.
It worked quite well.

we will see, learning as I go

He has been on 8 flights so far and just handing him a couple cardboard books seems to do the job just fine without mind numbing cocomelon on a tablet

That’s the best way

Just wait til you buy him an expensive toy but then he wants to play with the box

IMO - that’s best for their imagination though
