uh no
unless your church service is in the dark, I don't see how they are comparable

It's not like the 3 year olds have any idea or understanding of what church is and what the minister is saying. Let the kids play quietly so that others can enjoy the service.
I wish more parents would bring entertainment for their children instead of constantly shushing/scolding them throughout.

and therein lies the problem. Its all a matter of perspective. whether its the parent's or some other person's. Cue the "why can't we all just get along" meme.

How is an iPad different than the coloring books or books given to a very young child during church by their parents.
I could understand if you look over and the 13 year old next to you is playing Angry Birds on their phone making it obvious they aren't paying attention....but a young child?
Shouldn't the important thing be that that family is trying to attend church?

I can't browse TD on a coloring book.
But to put it simply some people are just Luddites and afraid/dismissive of new technology.

well wait a moment Nurse, isn't the point of attending weekly mass the idea of praying together as a community?

And you are expecting a very young child to pray with the church? To actually listen the the sermon??

you ever try keeping a 3 year old still and quiet for an hour? would you rather the kid scream the entire time?
Hello false dichotomy.
Not even sure why you'd be in church if you care so little for the proceedings that you want to teach your 3 year old to ignore it.

how much of the time are you not paying attention, looking around and playing IWHI during the service...??

well, for one, I don't go to church
but I'm sure you are about to tell us how your 3 year old sits quietly and never acts up during church

I'm glad my church has a nursery and kids church
Only time you see kids in the main service is holidays

absolutely not. But that begs the question, why bring them at all? whats so important about going to church as a family (with a toddler who doesn't participate or pay attention)?
Posted on 8/25/14 at 10:38 am to tigerinthebueche
That's why I either don't go or sit in the cry room with mine.
Kids are kids.

That's where the church has to offer something age appropriate for the whole family.

none. I don't go to church anymore for this exact reason. well, this and a few others. I find most services to be so full of distractions, that I left feeling either aggravated or like it was a waste of time.
