I hated this rule. It rewarded bullshite short passes for no yardage. You either establish a distance marker or you have a set amount of downs. frick all that two completions for a first bullshite.

We used to have a halfway marker. Usually a basketball or someone’s bike, but that would be considered the 1st down marker.

We never had penalties. I can’t remember what I did today either.

I was just walking to my car and getting in and they were across the street screaming

The only penalty we ever called was when the pass rusher would start running towards the qb before counting the last Mississippi.

Our sidelines were the curbs on each side of the street. I'd always run towards them because I hated getting tackled on the asphalt.

Weekends / after school = street football
during school (when we could do it) = paper football
(in my best old man voice) dems was the days, sonny.

At least they were outside playing football instead of on xbox.

This just brought me back. Used to play after school. Me and my buddy took on like 5 kids a grade below us. They thought they were hot shite. After 10 Mississippi I roll out of the pocket. Dragging two around my waist. Still trucking. This little black haired one speared the shite out of my chest. It was the best form I’ve seen. Goldberg style. I had to shake his hand after.

I guess some of the local kids were out of school today for some reason and they were playing football in the front yard - one of the kids kept calling “horse collar” penalty. I just shook my head. Who calls penalties on neighborhood football? Lol
Kids today have no clue.
I used to call targeting when people touched my shoulder....I was way ahead of my time

3 flies in
Pitch up tackle
Wrap up in the street
2 hand touch: early, no in hands

We always had one kid who would violently yell “NO GRABBING SHIRTS!!!”
.. he was so damn fast sometimes that’s all we could get our hands on
He wound up running for 1800 yards and 20 something TDs our senior year of high school

My brother would always catch the kickoff (throw), immediately yell "Super Train", and proceed to truck who ever got in his way.
This thread brought back a lot of great memories and people I hadn't thought of in years.
