That's what happened when I was 8. I saw all the stuff in the closet that a couple of weeks later re-appeared under the tree Christmas morning.

Also mom forgot to remove some of the Woolco price tags.

Sally you have the same reasoning to this as my best friend/former friends with benefits.

She just thought always being honest with her kids was the best way.

I can respect that. But I can also disagree.

To each their own

I know I'm in the minority.

I would never approve of my children messing up another family's traditions though. To my knowledge, they never did.

Depends on if they have younger siblings. Then they get to play a part in the Christmas magic.

It's a wink and a nod. It's an inside joke. It's understanding that we want to share and spread joy.

yep!! The older 5 pick on and joke around with #6 constantly - but they haven’t told her about Santa yet

She’s 10, so I think its the last year

Phrase it correctly and it never goes away.

As long as you believe, everything is real. We can all be Santa, we can all make someone's Christmas morning special.

I've always phrased it this way and my 11 year old will fight you that Santa is real because she believes it.

What parent lets their kids have unsupervised use of the internet?

My oldest son is 8 and in 3rd grade and I can tell he’s starting to really question things but hasn’t said much yet. But I know they are talking about it at school.

Never told them except to say that santa only leaves gifts for those that believe. They got the point that it was symbolic.. they claim they were told or figured it out around 8 or 9.. to this day they understand that he’s real in the way it’s intended..

What do you mean not believe in Santa?

Not to point out you or your wonderful daughter... but something about that phrasing just really doesn't set well with me.

I know it's not that deep... it's just Santa traditions. I dunno... I'm just weird I guess.

I mean she has bought into the idea that we are Santa, she can be Santa, everyone can. That the spirit of Christmas is giving especially to those that are less fortunate and as long as you believe in that Santa is real.

Sorry if I phrased it weird, didn't have that intention.

I think I understand... and you probably didn't phrase it weird- that's surely on me.

Sounds like you're doing a bang up job raising a munchkin that thinks outwardly, not just inwardly- it is very much an accomplishment in today's world. Not an easy task!

My oldest daughter is 8, so I am bracing for the potential of this being the last few days of Christmas magic for her, but have 2 more after her to keep it going.

I'm hoping I can get one more year out of my oldest, but know it's a big possibility of her finding out in 4th grade as a 9 year old.

I remember starting to question Santa at 6 years old when I found a Home Alone 2 talkboy under some blankets in my parents' room that went on to be a gift from Santa a few weeks later, but I convinced myself to keep believing for another year or 2 after that.

Depends on the number of kids and their ages.

If three or more and they are closer together, the younger kid is going to figure it out or get told quicker than the older kids did.

If there’s a gap in ages, the older kids will probably play along.

I was the fourth kid, with 6 years between oldest and youngest, so the Santa window was very short.
