Hmmm.... i've never had kidney stone issues yet. But thanks for the heads up...

it opens your pee hole and you'll piss like a fire hydrant and more than likely pass it.
Also, drink a boatload of water with lemon as the acid from the lemons help reshape the stone so it doesn't completely murder your junk when you pee it out.

i cringed reading this.
Lol, that is my fear. With my luck it will pass with the widest part up and down rather than front to back.

I like to think I have a high tolerance for pain, but that stone broke me in a few hours.
Kidney stone pain is just a completely different kind of pain. With most pain I've dealt with, I've been able to find a position to eased some of the pain, but not when I've had kidney stones. That pain just keeps coming in waves, and there's no to get comfortable to ease.
Both times I've had them though, I passed them pretty quickly. Last time I was in and out of the ER in 2 hours first thing in the morning, and had passed it by lunch.

I get them about every 3 years. I have had one moved surgically, and i have passed all the rest. I have passed 1 in DFW airport between flights, and one at a clients int he middle of the day.
i dont even go to the doctors anymore for them - I just drink a shite ton of water, pop a couple alieve (just to kill the edge a little) and walk around as best I can - eventually the attack stops.
just had an attack for about 3 days straight - haven't passed it yet, but it's coming lol.

What's funny about that med is that you STILL piss like a fire hydrant long after you pass the stone I think mine was like that for a week then it resettles back to normal.

I've had over 20 of them over the years and they are not nice to deal with. The biggest one I passed on my own was 1/4 inch round and 1/2 inch long and that bastard hurt me for a long time before passing.
I finally had a lab analyze them to see what was causing my stones and it was uric acid, the same thing that causes gout in some people. I got prescribed a drug to take daily called Allopurinol and that has been a blessing. I've not had any more problems with kidney stones since getting on that medication.
I did have the surgical procedure done once and you're out when they do it but peeing for the next 3-4 days is pretty painful as it feels like you're pissing razor blades.

I just had 1 that was almost 11mm.
Had an ER visit when it dropped out of my kidney into my ureter.
Did a Lithotripsy and it did nothing to my stone. I didn't think the pain from the procedure was too bad.
Had to go in (yes through my pee hole) and break that dude up with a laser beam! They installed a stent from the Kidney to the Bladder to make sure the swelling doesn't close up the ureter. After 1 week I had another xray and they broke it into about 8 or 9 pieces and I passed those within 2 days of having the stent removed.
I was asleep for the initial procedure but not asleep when they had to remove the stent. That wasn't the most pleasant feeling.

Started fighting one last Monday on the way to work. Thought I was going to have to pull over on the side of the road I was hurting so badly. Haven't passed it yet but am ready for it to be gone. I was drinking way too many soft drinks and I'm sure that's the cause. Right now I'm at the point where I feel like I have to pee a good bit with occasional pain but no longer in my back.
I had one about 20 years ago that made this tough guy right out of college wilt down to a little baby in a matter of seconds.I don't wish these on anyone!
I'm drinking water like crazy hoping to flush it out where I don't have to go to a doctor.

Anyone have experience with Kidney Stones? I had to go to the ER the other night with severe back pain on my left-hand side. The pain comes and goes periodically, but nothing to the intensity of the other night at the ER. Had a CT scan done, the test results said stone hasn't made it to my bladder yet and was 3mm. The urologist said he measured the stone and it is 6mm in greatest diameter. He offered two approached, let it pass on its own if the pain is under control or a surgical procedure to fragment and remove the stone. Anyone with kidney stone experience have a thought on my options?
I had lithotripsy on one of the 2 stones I've had in my life. It sucked for about a day but I was fine after that
My second stone was smaller but seemed to be more painful. That one passed naturally while I was under the influence of sweet mother Oxycontin

6mm stone probably won't pass. Hope you went to STPH. Which Urologist?
you should have Toradol, Flomax, and zofran. Of course I haven't treated someone with a kidney stone for almost 18 hours

Lots of water and flowmax. They can do an ultrasound thing that’ll break them up also. Just FYI I had an emergency orchiectomy(tesical removal) which led to a bunch staples and stitches in my sac....that was a walk in the park compared to kidney stones

that is how mine was removed.
I have passed one myself that got stuck coming out, and I had to pull it free.

I wonder if the body desensitizes itself over time - mine put me in the ER every single time

Toradol is mandatory when the pain kicks in.

No offense, doc, but 18 hours?
