the one time I had a stone (2010) my primary physician (who was also working ER at the time) told me to drink lots of beer. didn't do it.
Teh morning the attack happened I went to our local ER, they diagnosed it and sent me home with meds.
After a few days and no urine output, my Dr. told me to come to his ER, catheterized and a Clonopin/ Morphine cocktail. I think in the room pre surgery I was on a Toradol IV. it works.
Urologist Finally went in and got the thing out (small, near the bladder) and put a stent in.

Taking the stent out was relatively painless. Dr. gave me a percocet and valium to take just beforehand. Was very chill when the assistant took it out.
really no pain. Sometimes I still have the feeling the stent is still in, though. A weird sensation. the stent was about the diameter of the lead in a std pencil.

Also get a Toradol script. It helps a LOT.

Toradol and Flomax and you'll never know it even passed.

I've had 3, and they suck arse, but those two drugs in combo make it much easier to deal with.

Good luck.

Toradol is what actually works.

Painkillers do not help, but they at least make the entire process slightly tolerable.

Hopefully one of the medications that they gave you was Flomax which will help you pass it easier. Other than that, just non-stop water to flush it out.

Was gonna suggest Flomax too. That and a beer or two.

Lots of real cranberry juice can help as a preventive.

Clean your bathroom floors. There's a good chance you'll be laying there in the fetal position at some point.

Drink lots of water. Hope you feel better soon.

I try to sleep as much as possible. My urologist prescribed me Phenergan which helps with the sleep along with tramadol and flomax.

I also use the hot tub or a warm bath to soak in.

Get in a hot tub and drink cold beer as much as possible. If you’re not too drunk, get out periodically and jump up and down to jolt it loose. That’s what I’ve heard anyway. Good luck, I only had one when I was young, so I drink plenty of water every day.

Pissed it out after several days.

It was a black thread-like looking ball.

I’ve had about 20 since I was 24.
A 3.5 should pass in a few days. Don’t believe any of the bullshite about lemon juice or olive oil mixed w water.
My urologist told me that stone is hard AF and nothing is going to dissolve it. His quote was , ‘you can throw that stone in the Mississippi River and it will look the exact same in 10,000 years’

Correct. I’ve got an old pill bottle full buts really the injection that works. Morphine and opiates are fine but they never killed the pain 100%. Toradol knocks it out every time.
Plus my experience has been once you get the initial pain under control it never comes back full blast. Not every time but usually.
Then you are just left with a need to pee but can’t

Last one I had was about 15 years ago. It was the size of a pea and it was prickly on top of that. The worst part is from the kidney to the bladder. If you can pass that then pissing it out will be nothing. This one actually sat in my bladder for about 4 months somehow. It hit me on New Years eve and I didn't piss it out till May.

Them they told me it was only a 3.5mm and would need to go home and pass it.

I just had a 10mm by 7mm stone that kicked my arse worse than anything life has ever thrown at me.

Take the pain meds, drink tons of water, and just deal, brother. Nothing else you can do.

Walking, stairs, etc. Keep active. Used to get on an old roller coaster, like the old Greased Lightning or such. Movement helps. Sitting on the couch suffering and you won't pass anything.

I have had many kidney stones over the years. I’ve had the basket procedures done with the stent afterwards. Getting the stent taken out is not fun at all! I’ve never had to have an incision to remove one or lithotripsy. I have passed the vast majority of them at home.

Someone else mentioned this, but once the stone makes it into your bladder, the pain is mostly gone. It doesn’t always come out right away, and most of mine haven’t hurt when they actually pass out into the toilet. At worst, it’s a quick jolt of minor pain at that point. At least that’s been my experience.

Good luck! I can sympathize with you for sure.
