My little girl is 3. She was running fever so we brought her to the doctor. She got the liquid Tamiflu. That was last night. Today she is hyper like she feels perfectly fine. Is this normal? Not complaining she feels better just wondering if it was a false positive test.

She's still on that Tamiflu high....she'll crash tonight and be grumpy again, and want more tamiflu. It's a cycle.

If she's fine, I wouldn't bother with the meds.

No I'm not sure it's the flu. That's why I'm asking. Flu test was positive, but would rather not have her on Tamiflu if it isn't the flu. I remember when I had the flu, even with Tamiflu I felt like crap. She might be tougher than me though.

I'd be more worried if the opposite were happening, uncommunicative, lethargic, etc. Running around hyper-like sounds positive. If it were mine, I would not worry. Look at all the times docs prescribe antibiotics as a catch all or to calm paranoid parents. Healthcare is a business and Tamiflu = profit.

fluids probably made her feel much better. Or she is going to be one tough cookie. The only time I had the flu it knocked me on my arse

Yea I'm sure it's nothing to be worried about. It's my first kid and I just worry about giving her unnecessary meds.

Enough said ;) I remember those times well hahaha! If you get to the 3rd child it becomes a whole different ballgame. My 3rd one is 3 and wipes her own arse lol

Pretty normal behavior for a sick kid that age.

It takes a ton to keep a young child down. Medicine is probably doing its job. She will probably be up and down for the next few days.

She's 3. Let her run around like a nut, puke, sleep, and run around more. At least she's not posted up in front of the TV 24/7

Both of my young ones were similar. The tamiflu will have them in good spirits for a bit, but the symptoms will come back when it begins to wear off. Just stick with it and eventually she'll be back to normal.

We are seeing a huge amount of children of all ages with the flu at work. Arizona actually is having the highest incidence of flu this season in the entire country. I'd say half the kids on our floor have Flu A. I've seen some act really sick, and others act like typical toddlers(except maybe more cranky than normal).

When she is acting like she is fine....what is her temperature? Maybe the fever is gone for that moment and she is having a period of time where she feels ok? Or maybe you guys caught her in the very beginning stages of the flu? Keep giving her the Tamiflu if that is what your doctor prescribed. It's usually pretty effective if given in early stages of the flu from what I've seen at work.
