Kid barred from wearing "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" t-shirt at school

Stormtrooper laser guns are now a real threat, especially when our 7th graders wear t-shirts that clearly advocate the violent use of galactic empire guns. How long until light sabers are banned from t-shirts?

Meh. Don't wear a shirt depicting a gun.

The wrong people keep dying in shootings.
Always the innocent, never the fricking idiots.

Have these idiotic policies been challenged in court? Seems to threaten First Amendment protections, especially when the shirt is clearly advertising the movie, not advocating violence.

How do these pussies survive in the real world?

Tinker v. Des Moines is probably most applicable (black armbands protesting Vietmam).
The court ruled that schools could not censor student speech unless believes it could reasonably cause disruption or harm or if it interfered with the rights of others.
It seems reasonable, but of course when you entrust the unreasonable to use reason to make a decision, a reasonable result is the last thing you should expect.

This kid just screams terrorist. Glad they thwarted this threat before anyone got killed

With that big arse helmet, I don't see how that stormtrooper can get his face down on the stock to look through that scope. Probably why their aim is so bad.

Back in the Tinker days, the burden of proof for disruption was on the school: they had to prove that the speech was disruptive. Since then, in other cases, the courts have shifted the burden of proof in school 1st Amendment issues to the student. Basically this kid would have to sue the school and prove his shirt wasn't disruptive.

Oh for God's sakes.
But let's let a kid with a penis use the girl's restroom because he wants to be a girl.

The kid goes to a school that allows him to wear t-shirts in general. I think he has bigger problems than a Star Wars shirt being banned.

Also, anyone else think he looks like Incrediboy from The Incredibles?
