After wearing them all through high school I recently got back into the Duckhead brand. I bought a couple pair of their performance shorts and love them. I think they are an 8" inseam so kindve in between. They have longer but really, that inseam is pretty comfortable and looks good.
Like their chinos too if you are looking for some. They fit just like they did BITD.

How many pockets running up and down the legs you need?

Get some lulu’s and call it a day. It fits and looks good.

I've had trouble finding perfect ones too. True khaki (like khaki colored) shorts just don't work with synthetics, I've determined. Free Fly, Vuori, Faherty, Lulu - I've tried a bunch and some are ok, but imperfect.
Peter Millar have some pull on khaki shorts that are short enough (6) and Patagonia if you can find them.

That's what is in style. I wear these polo shorts with 6" inseam. Khaki and Navy blue look good.
If you can't pull it off, then stay out of the yacht club.
But seriously, I like the look and I was a cargo short kid in the 90's.

Those aren't shorts, they're longs.

Be careful, khaki is a nazi dog whistle. Hitler, and the nazis, were OBSESSED with khaki fashion.
Personally, I wouldn't be caught dead in khaki, lest I be accused of being a stinky nazi.

Don’t be fat then..
I do like the Johnnie O shorts. I play a lot of golf so most of my shorts are golf shorts.. best ones I have are the Johnnie O… I do have a couple pair of Fabletics that are fantastic, but in khaki not so much.
