I just wanted to point out that I don't believe the calories in calories out and a calorie is a calorie nonsense. I have read a few articles that dispels the myth of the first law of thermodynamics when dealing with nutrition. Some systems are more efficient than others and can add more calories to achieve weight loss.
I can attest to this. For the first 2 weeks of my diet, I ate nothing but chicken and green beans with rice with protein drinks (horrible diet). I stuck to this to the T. It was roughly 2200 calories in total. I lost maybe half a pound. Now, I am doing a keto diet at 2350 calories and at the 2 week mark I have lost 10 lbs.
I believe the diet works or doesn't work because that particular diet is in sync with the way your body naturally works. If you bloat on carbs, stay off of carbs. If you workout better with high fats and no simple carbs, do it.
you are absolutely correct but keto is the only diet that can bypass the 1st law. Its because off the different mechanisms it uses to burn fat. But it the effect is only so much.

220lbs, ~20%
My current target is 0.9g/lean body mass pound.
How much higher would you suggest? And only on lifting days or every day?
I would suggest doubling it but I prefer a more psmf approach to keto for people who lift and really that should be for everyday. But you could lower some if you wanted on non lift days.

No harm, no foul. Thank you for the offer

Upvoted, thanks.
I like to learn different methods. Looks like you're just cycling carbs. How many lift days compared to rest days?
original lean gains program call for 3 lift days. and yes you are cycling carbs and then back loading on lift days. combined with an overall weekly deficit along with the benefits of IF its a recipe for success.
The original lean gains program though was really about true lean muscle gains. It called for a 20% surplus on lifting days and at baseline for non lifting days. Martin Swears by this method of gaining weight and he did provide dated pictures of him gaining like 15lbs over something like 6 months while only going from 6%bf to 7%. He provided dexa scans to prove it. Thats pretty much what started the LG phenomenon. He then started showing results from clients and people got interested in using it to cut. Before martin got pissed because his spreadsheet was released he had kind of hinted about how to do the other percentages and between all the info a couple different calculators where developed.
I have martins lean gain spreadsheet, the reddit ada spreadsheet from his best client, and a couple others. I will try and upload them this weekend to scribd under my name there.

One day people will realize the beauty of intermittent fasting. I literally eat whatever I want but in a 6 hour window. I fast for 18 hours. Weight management has never been easier or more satisfying than this intermittent fasting diet.
Amen to that brother..

Lets see this smuck keep that same diet up for a long term study and see the results. Calories is a part of it, but nutrition plays another big part as well. Eventually I'm sure his numbers would start looking bad.
Also does this guy take vitamins or other supplements, or exercise? Also how often does he eat? Intermittent fasting provides really good health results, so if he did some fasting that could be in part of why his lab work looks good.
Again him doing this short term may be fine, but do you seriously think him doing this for a year, or years straight will be good for you, health wise? Do our bodies just eventually turn carbs into proteins? Seems like the oreos, doritios, twinkies are high in carbs and not much on proteins.

I guarantee you not everyone can walk 3-4 miles a day and eat whatever the frick they want and still look like your scrawny arse

You're right, your genetics are fricked up and your ancestors were fat. Want to fight fatass?
Posted on 3/3/16 at 7:46 pm to CootKilla
Dude i walk 10k steps a day and lift and still cant eat whatever i want.
And just a word of advice, if you only weigh 130lbs, its not a smart idea to go around starting shite no matter how well you can fight.

So I have done keto based diet and had lab work done. This past year I had switched to a more plant based/vegan diet eating meat 0-1 times a day.
Cholesterol was about the same @ 160's
Triglycerides were 80 with keto, 60 with plant.
My weight stayed roughly the same through marathon training and weight training. My wife is currently doing more of a low carb approach so I'm debating on going back to keto to help her out. I see the benefits of both a low carb and a meatless diet. It's all about what works for you.
I think everything starts with eliminating sugar, processed foods and dairy.

Being a twerp is the proper way to go through life, son. I eat & drink like a 300# and have no problem maintaining my twerp body type.
