i personally could give two shits what some study says, I have seen amazing recomps happen plenty of times and have done so myself.

When you start getting protein up around the 1.5g per to 2g per area along with carb timing, you open a whole different ball game. especially when you start throwing little tricks in like the ones discussed in greyskull, things dicussed by daunte trudal, layne norton etc. its possible.

Yea, I don't disagree with that nor does that study disprove or attempt to disprove that

It's hard. There's always "a good reason."

If recomp is your goal I highly recommend the greyskull LCI program(look on scribd under tdlsu777) combined with the lean gains protocol i posted above.

Downloaded it. Gonna read it tonight on my flight to Denver.

It absolutely is detrimental to weight loss goals, and living in NOLA, there's always an excuse to go drink. I feel better and feel I've made progress in the past 3 weeks that I've been alcohol free.

Here's a sample of my MFP keto daily log:

Possibly for beginners

Mainly beginners, yes. But I don't see the need to leave them out, and then label it impossible.

I workout at a CF gym and this happens rather normally with overweight people that come in and stick to it & eat well. It may be a little easier for me to quantify because I see and talk to these people nearly every day.

as far as the alcohol thing goes....I get it. its everywhere and every time you go to dinner or a get together everybody is drinking. But honestly most in these threads act like there is no way they can go a weekend without having a drink.

Maybe its because I am in my 30s and have a family but when I go to dinner on the weekends I don't feel the absolute need to have a drink. Whats annoying though is when people get mad because I am not drinking. Especially if I am the designated driver and they still want me to drink. So I get the social pressure.

I just don't get the attitude of I want to lose weight very badly, have been failing, but I refuse to give up alcohol and you are a crazy person for even bringing it up.

whats your weight and BF%? unless you have no concern about building strength and muscle, you might want to up the protein some, even if it brings you to the verge of being out of keto.

Where did that happen?

No one has said otherwise either. Mouton even said experienced lifters.

You're creating an argument and putting words in people's mouths imo.

So you're giving them dexa scans? How are you evaluating their muscle gain?

No one is disagreeing with newb gains. The science backs it up.

I wasn't putting words in anyone's mouth, that is what mouton has said before. You chose to respond to me, I wasn't even talking to you. And I've specified the whole time I was talking about beginners. It's all right there

Yes, it is:

Mouton:

quote:

For someone who is a experienced lifter without help it is nearly impossible.

Your Response:

quote:

impossible to lose weight and gain muscle?

My response:

quote:

It is extremely difficult to do both if you're not starting out.

Usually less efficient too than bulking/cutting

Then you:

quote:

well yea, it is quite the blanket statement to say its impossible without the help of an experienced lifter.

Where did anyone say without the help of an experienced lifter?

He said for an experienced lifter. An experienced lifter is not just starting out. He also didn't say it was impossible.

I read his post wrong, I thought he was saying it is impossible to do without the help of an experienced lifter. Which would have jived with his past comments, but I guess he's learned.
