I have a heart for all of the families being destroyed economically from this in a state that isn’t and was never even over run with cases.
Their curve is flattened and they have hospitals to treat people, open it up.
If articles like this are an example of the type of journalism we will see moving forward AND people read it and believe it, we’re in big trouble

Infections mean nothing.
shite, one homeless shelter in Boston had over 150.
Deaths and hospitalizations only real meaningful metrics. If really wanna get down to it I really only care about deaths. Hospitals pretty desperate for $$ I could see ppl who don't need to being hospitalized.

Bingo. Alabama, with a population of over 4.9 million, has about 150 deaths and a couple of hundred inpatient hospital Covid patients. Otherwise, the hospitals are pretty much empty. And we have people screaming that we shouldn't open back up.

There's the damned problem in a nutshell. The dominant media in this country are all in on crashing the economy, and the people who listen to them dare not question any of it.
I've been trying without success for weeks now to convince my lib wife that the sky is not falling and we will not die if we venture outside. She gets her info primarily from XiNN and NPR. She's never heard, except from me, about Cuomo and DeBlasio imploring people to take part in the St. Patty's Day parade. Stanford study? What's that? HCQ, z-pack and zinc? That's dangerous, new medication that has terrible side effects.
I can only shake my head.

We just upped our testing measures with more drive-thru testing and UofL now working on antibody testing. Those protests just happened two days ago, so the increase is due to the increase in testing.
That said, I'm curious to see this week if any cases start popping up from the in person church services that occurred on Easter. A tent revival in Western Kentucky in mid-March had produced 28 cases and 2 deaths by the beginning of April. Not sure what it's at now.
It's going to be awhile before we have a steady 14 day decline of cases here. We'll be in Phase 1 for awhile and people will need to accept that.

The reason our numbers are lower are because Governor Beshear got out in front it about the same time as DeWine up in Ohio. It prevented it from getting out of hand.
The Ohio Valley has some of the highest rates of cancer and lung disease in the country. And it's not even close to just the over 65 crowd. It could've gotten really bad here had they not shut things down.

The White House's guidance is with more thorough testing, before you should move to the next phase of opening you should have a 14 day decline in cases. Kentucky and other states will likely see a spike with increased testing (as they can acquire additional swabs and material to test) then a drop. But that will take time.
Why is that so hard to understand?

Not surprising. Idiots taking to the street yelling to reopen the economy not fully understanding that a virus like this spreads easily and now some are paying for it.
So concerned on wanting to open the economy that you forget why its closed and its for the health protection of americans. Now more people will be going to the hospital filling it up and causing more issues.
