it's a lot easier to say "84 isn't hot" when you're sitting comfortably in the air conditioning than when you're training in the heat/humidity.
True. and 84 degrees today is a LOT HOTTER than 84 degrees used to be.............

Ummmm.... His actions caused this 20 year old man to choose not to seek the nourishment that his body was telling him he needed.

It is part of cutting weight and I get that. But you don't try and cut water weight during extreme workouts. Any coach doing should be punched in the face. Cut weight on the day before weigh-in by going to a sauna. If weigh in is random then you shouldn't be competing in that weight class anyways. Wrestling is as much or more about technique and gaining leverage than it is trying to wrestle a guy that is 10lbs more than you. If he is strong you best them by speed and agility. There are ways to win being on the low end of the weight class than risking lives and injuries. Being dehydrated you are also losing flexibility. Working out without hydrating you fack up the muscle recovery that makes you strong.
Once again do better.
Once again do better.

I’m not advocating that this was right by any means
This coach should go to jail
What I’m saying is the guys who call this kid a pussy are idiots and have likely never been to a practice after highschool football

I find it very interesting how some posters on here are making it seem like 84 degrees isn't hot.
Exactly this. 84 and 100% humidity is worse that 95 and 20% humidity for cooling the body

how would fatalities factor into this? tougher back then, more deaths, more pampering today, less deaths? that’s a good thing
You called him a pussy for dying, but are now arguing that more people dying back then meant they were tougher.
So if you died in the 60s, you died because you were soooooo tough. if you die today, it's because you were sooooo pampered. Again, that logic is out of whack because of the "everything was better back in my day" mentality.

Name a guy that is 300lbs from the 90s that could run a 4.8 40 time. If you can't do that now good chance you won't be drafted.

But to insinuate the 84 degrees in Kentucky is unbearably hot is laughable. This i snot Louisiana humidity levels we are talking about.
What would you say if I told you that part of Kentucky has been comparatively as hot over the past few days as parts of Lousiana? They've actually had fairly similar temps and humidity for stretches this Spring. Louisiana doesn't have a monopoly on heat and humidity.

Coaches are low IQ that’s why. The Army gives you water any time you want

Louisiana has nothing on parts of Kentucky for humidity many days. That was a dumb comment on his part.

Try having this debate with people who really have no clue how humidity and the heat index works (Not saying anyone here has that problem). Try explaining that a Sacramento 96° with 27% Relative Humidity has the same "Feels like" temp as a Florida 86° over 75° dewpoint. Then, try explaining to them that when you have really high temp and a low Relative Humidity that the "Feels like" temp is actually lower than the actual temperature. It blows their minds. They are mentally incapable of understanding it.
That happened last week when a bunch of people were bitching about the World's Strongest Man competition being held in hot locations.
