What the hell is wrong with this staff? Why were criminal charges not filed?

quote:

A college wrestler died from a heat stroke after coaches denied the 20-year-old's repeated pleas for water as a disciplinary measure, during a particular intensive school practice in 84-degree temperatures, a police report has revealed.

quote:

ventually, during the hot summer day, Brace began to fall behind his comrades, and begged coaching staff for water - a request cops say they denied due to the student's 'poor performance.'

Two hours after the practice, Brace was found by students and staff on the ground near the gym, collapsed, clutching the grass near a pool of his own vomit.

He died of exertional heatstroke, cops said - a particularly preventable condition that does not occur without warning signs.

My brother wrestled D2 and I have attended a few practices. I have never seen anything like it. They don't stop.

Under the fricking jail. As a coach and a parent, this kind of shite makes me unbelievably angry.

ETA: that cocksucker is now coaching high school athletes. utterly disgusting

Probably had a medical condition, wrestlers are in incredible shape.

Seems likely. We used to do 2 a day's for football in the Louisiana summer, with upper 90's to 100 degree temps, wearing pads. It was miserable. We were given breaks though, but not many.

Now the coaches not listening to the kid is another thing.

They are, and they're usually well accustomed to grueling workouts. It is kind of the norm. That makes it worse that the guy was completely ignored, it seems.

I've always thought coaches who pull crap like this should be forced to run the same drills.

1960? The one water break was treated as a reward in two-a-days in 1984
