I don't believe I ever said he nor a dad bod ever required anything close to "physical specimen"
Eli looks like a guy that was in good shape as a youngster from playing a bunch of sports and is in relatively good shape now, but not cut at all because he eats what he wants and drinks beer with a slowing metabolism.
In those photos, that is the prototypical dad bod.

What's going on here is
1 Women rationalizing their out of shape SO's. "I don't care about that jock over there, my chubby hubby is just right for me."
2 Fear that if her guy actually started working out and got jacked, she'd have to get in shape herself, or risk having him run around on her with someone better looking.
Physical attraction is wired into our brains. We know what's hot, and it's a very specific set of parameters that crosses cultures and millenia.

It’s seriously disgusting in the south. Outside of major cities the vast majority of women are fat, even young ones.
