I hope we find out what the votes were and the issues they were stuck on.

The final vote on each of the offenses should be given to the parties, but we'll see.

And the jurors can talk/do book deals which would seem likely.

There were 4 charges. Does the mistrial mean they could not agree on any of them?

A hung jury is absolutely insane. The only thing that the Commonwealth convinced me of was that there was a conspiracy to frame Karen.

This is certainly a W.

Only insomuch that she is still free at the moment and doesn't have to fight via appeals.

The CW will be retrying the case.

Does KR have the war chest to fight a second trial?

The fact he had no bruising or fractured bones and we still get a Mistrial is mind-blowing.

I do not believe that is a sure thing. Everyone involved took a huge hit. It could be even worse a second time.

Anyone have a podcast recommendation for this trial? Maybe one that just has a summary of all the testimony presented?

I don't but the trial lasted 10 weeks. Not sure anyone has released a summar6ly podcast like that yet. They undoubtedly will.

The DA released a statement saying they plan to retry.

Maybe that's strategy to get her to enter into a plea deal.

Also, how are the explaining the busted tail light pieces at the scene?

There is video of her arriving home after she dropped him off showing her taillight wasn’t broken. It then shows her backing into his vehicle which is likely how it became cracked. This is what convinced me she was being framed.

The bigger question is how pieces of that broken taillight were found on the scene - only on a 2nd search - when it wasn’t broken until she got home. The only answer to that is it was a setup.

They always say that. They don’t always do it.

I'm listening to the prosecutors podcast. They are lawyers that look into true crime cases. They try to tell both sides. They've only done a couple of episodes so far on this case so they have a long way to go until the completion

Pretty big news, lead investigator Michael Proctor relived from duty:

quote:

CANTON - Massachusetts State Police announced that Michael Proctor was "relieved of duty" and transferred out of Norfolk County District Attorney's Office State Police Detective's Unit.

State police said the decision is separate from the ongoing internal investigation, which is still ongoing.

Proctor is not allowed to function as a state trooper and has no assigned duties. But he is still officially on the force and being paid pending a disciplinary hearing.

quote:

Proctor was the lead investigator on Karen Read's case for the Norfolk County District Attorney. Read's attorneys accuse him of covering for witnesses who are also his friends and planting evidence. He says he is not guilty of any wrongdoing.

Just as a warning they are very pro prosecution in most cases (which shouldn’t surprise you given their backgrounds), but I listen to them as well.

I agree they are pro prosecution. I just looked at their Twitter and they seem upset. They for sure think she did it. One thing they keep saying is that for her to be innocent, the whole town would basically have to be in on the conspiracy and they just don't believe that's possible. They also think the public thinks everything is a conspiracy so they think the public is bias

District Attorneys are also politicians.

They always have a knee-jerk reaction to hung juries to threaten a re-trial. They are also ingrained into the political and law enforcement landscape, no matter if it’s corrupt or deeply flawed.

The DA might have a different perspective a few weeks from now once the emotions die down, and the facts and public opinion/pressure start infiltrating his office.
