Karen put me on notice today as only Karen can, preserving the thin veneer of Civilization

Today Karen yelled from her car to remind me to clean up my dog's poop. Not that my dog was pooping, of course. My dog had taken a dump about an hour earlier and I put it in a dog poop bag and threw it away like I do every other day because I'm civilized and familiar with the basic precepts of the social contract. Karen just saw a stranger walking his dog and felt the need to scream out her car window. Nobody cares about my dog's shite like Karen does. Karen is so considerate to remember to remind me to clean up after my dog. Thank you Karen. It is through efforts like yours that Western Civilization is preserved.

Memes are WAY more powerful than articulate descriptions. I have been annoyed with moral nannies my whole life. I referred to them here years ago as The Committee of Oh My God and many other things and nobody cared. But “ Karen” for whatever reason, resonates. I talked about the phoniness of the dominant media culture for years and nobody GAF. But Orange Man says the term “ fake news “ and suddenly everybody gets it. Memes, phrases etc are way more powerful than an army of articulate wordsmiths. It’s a funny thing.
