I pretty much automatically assume that most hate crimes are fake now. Congrats on your attention.

I'll never understand how pathetic someone can be to go to this level of trying to become a victim. or to any level for that matter.

I don't think it is victimhood per se it is fame/infamy that they seek and it is a lot easier to effectively self-brand yourself a victim than it is a hero.

When I lived in AZ they had a US Border Patrol agent get shot. He was hit in the vest and put out a call for help. Back up arrived and they found he had been shot in the vest and his truck had been shot several times. They found a partially loaded pistol just across the border in Mexico.

They took the guy to the hospital and the FBI took over the case. International incident, attempt murder of a federal agent, etc. A week later back in Tucson, the agent was going over the evidence and noted that the report stated the responding officers found the agent on the ground, ripped his shirt open and confirmed he was hit in the vest. The agent then noted that there was a bullet embedded in the vest BUT NO BULLET HOLE IN THE UNIFORM SHIRT. They got the agent in the office and caught him in a minor lie at which point they searched his house and found the box, extra mag and ammo for the gun found in Mexico.

Turns out the dude wanted a transfer out of AZ so he came up with the idea to fake the shooting and claim he was being targeted by the cartels. Dumb arse took off his vest, shot it and his truck and then threw the pistol into Mexico. Put his vest back on under his shirt and then called for help. Moron.
