I stand firm to the fact I’m not going to pay someone to be able to shop in their store.

Glad I live in Texas with plenty of HEBs.

The savings in gasoline purchases alone will more than cover the cost of a basic membership for most people.

The wife and I have the Executive Membership and we get back enough money at the end of the year that it pays for our renewal and puts at least $100 in our pockets with the rebate check they send out.

HEBS not doing that for you.

I've never been a member to either Sam's or Costco but am considering joining one. Which one should I pick?

I like Costco on principle because of the hot do story.

I probably make $350 in sams cash each year, and enough at costco to pay for its membership

My goodness, can we make up our minds about this? Constant complaints about unchecked shoplifting, but don’t try to prevent shoplifting.

I feel like if you live in an area of mixed economic situations, Costco is nicer than other places due to the pay wall. However, if you live in an affluent area, Costco will be crowded and full of out-of-towers, making it a much worse experience than your local Walmart or Kroger. This has to do with the spacing or the stores and the fact that Costco is an irrational cult.

You went on a Sunday. That’s your fault. Go when the boomers and Asian restaurant owners aren’t demolishing the place.

DO NOT go on a Sunday. (Advice given to me by a Costco employee.)

Plus Sams still has handheld scanners at the self checkout. My Costco took them away. They expect you to scan bulky items using the fixed laser on the machine.

^^^ This - same thing happened to me yesterday. I’m trying to scan a big bulky item on the fixed laser and had trouble trying to get it to read the barcode. What a cluster frick!!!

Sam's has more junk food and the scan and go App. Costco has more organic and healthier options but higher prices with longer check out. Not shocking the Fatties love Sams,

I have always had an associate scan larger items with a hand scanner.

2 things:

1. That store is crazy almost anytime including weekdays.

2. Smart move is to go to the Kingwood/Humble location during the week as it is pretty dead.

Costco is behind the times with their app and scan and go checkout. At Sam's you don't even have to get your receipt scanned anymore. Costco needs to step it up

Costco food court is a shell of itself also. The hot dog is still there but the other stuff is lacking or way more expensive. They are selling a cold turkey sandwich for $6 now

Sam’s is like a Walmart on steroids… Costco is like a target on steroids..

But meat at Sam’s.. darn good steaks

Meat fine at Costco also .. Costco has Kirkland snacks which are like targets brand.. pretty good.

Never go on Sunday after church.. weekdays best ..

Fun fact: Costco marketing is planned and they are always having specials.. one time will be great prices on traeger.. two weeks later they are gone and will have a deal on something like a wine cooler.. they specifically want you to feel like.. hey let’s go to Costco and see if the have a cool item on sale.. and then impulse buy..

Also an entire discussion on their prices.. and if it ends with a 99… or something else.. the last two digits mean on clearance.. going on clearance next week etc.. google it if you join

Costco.. heb…… life is good in Houston.

Really depends on where you live. In Baton Rouge, the Siegen location is Ghetto. The Denham Springs location is much nicer, less Ghetto, but certainly has an element of white trash to it.

Costco in Baton Rouge is very nice. The workers are helpful, however I find their checkout process lagging behind Sam's, mostly because Costco doesn't give you the option to check out on your phone.

Sam's will offer 3 to 4 products of the same item, whereas Costco usually only offers 1 or 2.

I find Sam's slightly less expensive on many items. And I do prefer Sam's paper towels. Plus Sam's will deliver all the items that I order to my house for $8.00 (local delivery), and it's usually within a few hours. Not having to carry 160 water bottles makes it worth the price of delivery for me.
