thx, so who’s the dark headed guy?

Secret Service bodyman. You can see him in other photos at the event, such as here

Cool event and photos but you really can't imagine this ever happening now: "put the president and one guard in an open top vehicle with no other people or vehicles or large objects anywhere nearby, control of the vehicle given to a National Guard enlisted man, with the local governor completing the quartet."

Reagan would be considered a Moderate in today's climate. His stance on immigration is closer to the Dems than it is to the GOP

It is a pet peeve of mine when people say such moronic things. Partly because young people who weren’t around and learned civics from a public school might not realize how fricking stupid you are. Do you even know what Democrats and Moderates want.

Reagan was against abortion.
Reagan was against high taxes.
Reagan was against unions -he broke them and they still haven’t recovered
Reagan was against communism and socialism in any form
Reagan was against disruptive student protests
Reagan was tough on crime - Dems still complain 40 years later
Reagan was for Israel
Reagan was for Religion
Reagan would not be for mutilating kids

Yes Reagan signed a law that granted amnesty to 2.9 million illegals. But it was part of a compromise that was supposed to greatly tighten border security and invoke heavy penalties on anyone who hired illegal aliens. Of course the Democrats lied but what else is new. If you think Reagan would be any where but the far right side of the current immigration debacle then you haven’t studied him very much. Over 20 million illegals getting immediate benefits, living in luxury hotels, and sanctuary cities would be against everything he stood for.

You should start a thread someday with stories of the various relief work you’ve done.

His best attribute was his love of spending money....spent money like a drunken sailor. Made people think he was against it also....fricking brilliant. Set the example for all who followed him....spend, spend and spend some more....and pretend like you loathe the idea of spending but spend like you got it....

I remember the day vividly. I didn’t see him but saw his limo.

I lived on West Elmwood then. Was too young to really remember but I think the president parked in our driveway to give his speech, or least that's what I was told.

He was slipping a little, but still more cognitive than the Potato in Chief we have now.

Reagan had Alzheimer’s and the 25th came up within his own camp. Biden likely has the same or something similar and is just a few years older than Ronnie so the disease has progressed more.

Well, I have two degrees that say differently….but perhaps you are smarter than me and studied him more. I’ll concede that is at least possible

Wasn’t that also called Monroe Morning World? I remember when they merged.
