My uncle had cancer and unfortunately it was too far advanced and in stage 4. The doctor gave him a month to live but he fought so hard and made it 14 months before he finally died. It was heartbreaking for me to drive him to houston for chemo at MdAnderson as he was so frail and weak but he didn't complain as he was in good spirits as a man of god and the sweetest man you could ever meet.
I never cried harder when he was finally not suffering anymore and met god himself in heaven.
I just keep thinking if only we had found the cancer sooner. Just one check up or routine appointment at the doctors office could've detected the cancer earlier and he could've had a chance.

Absolutely. His original doctor told him to go make peace. Another doctor heard the situation and said frick that. Got in touch with some doctors in m d Anderson, told them about the 45 year old father of 4. The next week, my dad was on an airplane to Texas. M.d. Anderson just got a lifetime supply of donations from this guy.
I just looked up the median survival for this type of lymphoma, and it looks like it's between 8 and 10 years, with 50-70% of people being alive at 5 years with appropriate treatment. Do you know why they told your dad he only had a 5% chance of survival?

Then I might have gotten the name wrong. Its a super rare non hodgekins lymphoma. But I can guarantee you he was told to make his peace and there was a super small chance he'd live.
Tomorrow when I see him I can ask him the exact name. I honestly had forgotten that his 5 year checkup was this week. I'm the kinda guy who tries to push those kind of thoughts to the back of my mind.

What treatment was used? Any natural cancer center for America remedies used?
Congrats on the good news.

I know he did chemo for sure, and I belive some trial meds. Honestly I'm not too sure. I won't sit here and lie to you. I hit the bottle extremely hard for the first 2 and a half so years. Talking a handle of Jim beam every 2 days PLUS working and drinking in tigerland every night. So my memory is a little hazy.im just fricking happy my old man made it this far. I'll never forget the day in the doctors office being told my dad had a year or so to live and there wasn't much they could do.

That is awesome. I'm battling Stage IV(B) Hodgkin's right now. Even with a good prognosis, it's scary shite.
And interesting that Paul Allen was the first to comment on your thread. "The" Paul Allen has survived both Hodgkin's and Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Great great news for you, your dad and your family. PTL.

Frick yeah! Cancer sucks! As a cancer survivor this is amazing news. Do me a favor... tell him to remember that feeling he had years ago when he was told he didn't have much time left. Use that to never forget to live for today. Tell him to periodically go to the oncologist and go to the chemo room and talk to patients or just sit in the lobby. My favorite, but still the scariest, day of the year is my annual oncology check up. I go several hours early and talk to the nurses and just reflect in the waiting room. Life is good, nah great! Congrats!!!!

My mom has been going there for the past four years or so. Hopefully we will get the same news y'all got one day. That's so awesome to hear. Now go celebrate!
