We had a family reunion about 90 minutes away so we decided to just take the kids to check the box and say they’ve been to New Orleans

We stayed in the central business district and just to say they’ve been; we walked down Bourbon at 2pm on Monday and it was fine.

We spent a lot of time around the French quarter and the garden district

City Park and Audubon Park were great as always.

A few questions I was curious about:

My wife and I couldn’t believe the lack of police. We did not see one cop on Bourbon Street and saw 1 racing through the quarter with his lights on. Where are they? What am I missing? We saw a million ghetto low riders blasting music and yelling and honking and no police in sight.

The other question I had were the roads. I know Louisiana isn’t known for roads or infrastructure, but Jesus Christ what’s up with all the potholes and shitty roads downtown and in the garden district? My car needs an alignment now. The garden district surprised me because I would assume they have the tax dollars to fix it.

Overall, we had a great trip and ate some great food. New Orleans isn’t what it used to be but it’s still the most unique city in the country. I think the right leadership in place they can finally turn the corner in the future.

Probably less crime per capita in New Orleans than in Jennings.

I can't blame em, 95% of the busts you're going to make are blacks and all you need is one arse kicking / shooting / tase gone bad getting recorded and you're going to jail even if the POS objectively deserved it. Latoya ain't got your back and neither does the chief. Would you stick around a high risk job where your bosses were actively looking for excuses to fire you? frick all that.

I knew some guys who were on the old school NOLA arse kicking squad, they left for other parishes / states and ain't coming back ever.

With the lack of Nola PD officers, Latoya isn’t gonna pay anyone overtime money to just hang out in the French quarter

I know what you mean about the roads. I have a customer on Magazine Street and every time I circle around Breaux Mart to park by Walgreens I think these are really nice historical looking homes in yet the potholes are terrible. Those people that live in that area have money. I’d hate to have an expensive car and drive to my house every day once I got off the main streets. Asphalt isn’t that expensive. Guess I’d buy a heavy duty truck if I lived there.

Imagine being so naive to think that places in New Orleans that have money get preferential treatment.

Let's be honest, New Orleans has some horrible roads but I've found that many cities are just as bad now.

Damn man we had the same experience. Lol

And just like you we had a great time. I know New Orleans well, and I know we are not to be at what times.

Sure it has many problems, and I’m not saying I want to move there, but for a three day weekend, it was great

It's part of the charm in New Orleans. People who live there don't care.

I always thought there were a lot of plain clothes cops. That may not be true now but that was how I remember it.
