Boulder is the most expensive place to live in Colorado. You may find something but may want to look into Lafayette or Longmont

That’s what I plan to do....the commute from Longmont wouldn’t be too bad, and it’s a little closer to Rocky Mountain NP

Move, rent a decent place in an area you want to be in, enjoy, see how you like things then decide if it's somewhere you want to stay.

He hasn't even pulled the trigger yet on leaving Louisiana yall trying to talk him into buying house? Absurd.

This, exactly. I've lately been getting an itch to move to Florida. IF that happens, I'll rent a place for a year and make sure I like the place before actually buying a home. I think this is what everyone should do if moving to a new city or state. The hassle of buying a home, and of course the closing costs...not worth it if you decide early on you don't like it there

if things continue on trend in Colorado, waiting a year means paying 20% more for the same house + interest rates looking like they will be materially higher

No guarantees on either of those things, but its something you have to consider

From someone who left and lived in multiple cities. DO IT. never come back to this fricking shithole. Leave now before the roots begin to sew. It will be by far the best decision you have ever made.

Depends imo. Renting to see if you like the area is smart but some areas will not slow down and if you can swing it I can't see losing any money.

Denver and areas of Florida are great examples.

I bought a house north of Clearwater 9 months ago for 300k. It's worth more than 400k now.

If you rented during that time to see if you liked it you missed out on a chance to make some $.

In the middle of moving to Denver area. The real estate market is absolutely nuts. I’m leaving an equally ridiculous market in Franklin, TN and I was still caught off guard. We bought after a virtual showing and everything is going way over list with tons of offers. Just get ready. Good luck on the move and it’s your life, do what you want. Anywhere in Colorado trumps Louisiana in my opinion. You can always move back.

Hate to derail this thread but in Denver there are two guilty pleasures of mine in that area if you like sandwiches: Fat Shack and Stack Subs. If you see one of these places(there is one in Boulder for sure) stop in.

I’m a mom .. if my 26 yo son got a job offer in Denver I’d tell him to go .. nothing to lose. I’m fact I did tel my 24 yo to take the job offer he got in Houston.

There’s more to life in Louisiana — do t let your family make you feel guilty. We have phones and planes and cars and whatnot.

Good luck!

Lincoln's Roadhouse is also a great spot in Denver to get your fix for gumbo and shrimp poboys. Original owners from Abbeville and current owners carry on the tradition.

They do a big arse Crawfish Boil on Fat Tuesday and routinely have a Swamp Pop/Zydeco band for live music.

I'm so glad we bought in 2018. The equity we have in just a few years is bananas. T&Ps for anyone buying for the foreseeable future. Still, moving to the Denver area was the best decision we've made. I worked across the country, grew up in both Louisiana and Texas, and this is the place where I've been the happiest. You won't regret it if you go with an open mind and stop worrying about what your family says

Congratulations. It may be expensive but well worth it at your age. Wife and I lived in Longmont, just north of Denver, at about your age, and our first daughter was born there. Every weekend you can find something different to experience.

My employer has a larger sales hub there. Area is awesome and lots of stuff to do. I’d go. Good luck.
