Well guys it’s happening. 26 yo, single, currently living in New Orleans. Just got an offer for a position in Denver that would pay 37% more than what I make now. Coincidentally, a girl I’ve been seeing is also about to go to Denver for work for at least a year (not the reason I applied in the first place). I expect my family to guilt trip me into staying as my parents are getting up there in age.

Any advice?

You’re only 26, take it.

You can always come back home. It’s a lot harder to leave if you stay and start dating / have a family.

That would be really shitty if they guilt tripped you for bettering your life.

Do it and don’t look back.

Don’t let your family guilt trip in to staying. Test out the talent in Denver before you call the old chick

Real estate is insane around Denver but other than that I'd much rather live there than Nola.

You are young and single so go experience something else. Before you know it you'll be 40 and tied down

Have a blast.

You hear almost nothing but good things about Denver and the surrounding areas. And in the position you are in life, it sounds like it’s working out perfectly.

Take it. Never know where its going to lead. If it sucks you can come back with more experience.

I made the mistake of passing on a position due to the same mindset with family, with the "Guilt Trip" of leaving. Never could get back into my field. Family wont pay your bills either, just FYI. But they will blame you.

When you see the chicks in Denver. You may ditch your girl anyway. They are different from the slobs they call women down here.

Almost no Obesity up there.

Coors Stadium is awesome for Baseball.
