Bet with tourists that you can tell them where they got their skis.

Go and enjoy life outside La. I did the same thing in 1988. Went to Texas, then Illinois and now back in Texas. I am retiring in La this Summer. You will get a chance to come back if you want.

Great opportunity! Go baw!

Go.. Most of my friends that have left the state tell me it makes them realize how bad Louisiana actually is. They still love it and it's still home, but there's other places so much better to live.

Some of you have some serious insecurities.

Sounds like a problem with your friends. Im sure they all would have lived grand lives if they had not started families.

There are plenty of young folks who married young and had great families and great lives.

Nola is NOT a low cost of living city.

This is what I don't understand. I think unless you've lived there you probably don't realize how inaccurate COL calculators could be for New Orleans. I just randomly looked at one and it lists the median home price as 254k, that's laughable because it's going to be more than double that to live somewhere that anyone would really want to live in the city.

Denver doesn’t really get that much snow, tbh. Even in the winter, the weather is cold at night but super pleasant during the day. In the summer, the inverse is true. Denver is very dry and at altitude, so it doesn’t feel nearly as cold. It’s hard to describe but 50 degrees in Louisiana often feels MUCH colder than 20 degrees in Denver.

The inexpensive blighted properties in New Orleans East and Florida areas drag the medium price down. The reality is that the medium price doesn’t reflect the massive gap that exists between the prices for living in a complete shithole ghetto verses living in a neighborhood that might have some wypipo with real full time jobs living in it.

I mean I'm expecting to have to pay about $2,000/month in rent. The salary I'm being offered should be adequate for that. Obviously that's a pretty steep price/month but my initial thought is that it will be manageable.

This is true. 40s and sunny is a really nice day out here actually. When the sun is out it's not bad at all

Boulder is the most expensive place to live in Colorado. You may find something but may want to look into Lafayette or Longmont

Any advice?
Just know that the absurdly dry air can really put age on your face at an earlier date. Take care of yourself in that regard.

lol look up Longmont/Lafayette/Niwot etc real estate. Not as high as Boulder, but higher than giraffe pussy to live. May as well live in Lockbuie and commute. Oh and OP, just find a nice room to rent for around 2k lol.

I want to say the average home listing price Uptown when I lived in New Orleans (5 years ago) was like 500k. I'm sure it's much higher than that now.

We just got back from Denver/Winter Park. We stayed at the Catbird in the RiNo Art District area because it was close to my friend's house. The price per square foot around there seemed pretty steep

People taking about housing prices here are getting waaaay ahead of things.

Move, rent a decent place in an area you want to be in, enjoy, see how you like things then decide if it's somewhere you want to stay.

He hasn't even pulled the trigger yet on leaving Louisiana yall trying to talk him into buying house? Absurd.
