Sthil, Echo, or Husqvarna. Straight shaft.

I have a Homelite that I’ve abused for about 10’years. Not a whole lot of love for them here, but it’s done well for a long time.

Can’t go wrong here. Get a shindaiwa if you want to be the swinging dick in the neighborhood.

Echos have always treated me well.

Shindaiwa, don't bother with the cheap junk it's worth every penny. Time, reliability, and power, it can't be beat. You can edge and weed in minutes.

How big of a yard? If smaller than a 1/4 acre I'd get a battery powered 18v like the Ryobi or similar.

If bigger, get as said Echo, stihl, etc. and once you stop using it for the year weekly then run the gas out of it after every use.

I’ve got a curved shaft poulan, going on ten years now. Not as efficient as the fancy brands, but gets the job done, especially if you have a small house.

Goats are about $45 each. Get a few in the front yard and start breeding them. Typically get about $6 a gallon for the raw milk on Craigslist. It’s a win win.

In the same position and bought a Husqvarna 17” straight shaft at Lowes for 10% off. Used it once and really like it

I bought a $99 Murray straight shaft from WalMart and run the gas that comes in the can with the oil premixed. Going on my 5th year with zero problems.
