The book was just f#^%!ng weird. My wife insisted that I read it early in our marriage (early 20's). She had gone through a feminist phase in her late teen years and became enamored with it because of the scenes where the women basically bitch that civilization fell because We Didn't Listen To Women. When I got the part about the hippie army, I remember saying "What the hell is this shite?" out loud.
After I finished it, I walked up and tossed it in her lap and said "Don't you ever insist that I waste my time on shite like this again". Thankfully, a few years of marriage and motherhood pretty much washed that nonsense out of her.

You telling me the star of Bull Durham thinks his best sports movie is Tin Cup?

They changed the name to Maggie's Hangar, which is the name of the bar in the movie. The original, or at least the name when I was there, was "The Rock and Roll Cafe".

It was a regional that Cal stat Fullerton came into town, he played there I believe.
He went to school there and tried out for the team, but didn't make it.

I enjoyed it, too. Whenever I see it's on, I'll stop to watch...at least through the part where Tom Petty shows up in it.

Was he in his "Mr. Brooks" mode and trying to be inconspicuous with being disguised????

I liked Waterworld and Postman. Dennis Hopper was great in Waterworld.
Also, fun fact, the bad guy in “No Way Out” was also the bad guy in Postman. Will Patten. Another great actor.

Field of dreams is actually third on his list.
Could you imagine having to deal with his crazy arse wife from that movie?

If I saw him, wouldn’t say a word to him because I don’t care if someone is a “celebrity”
My situation I was friends with one of the guitar players in band playing. He had a break and came by to talk to me and Costner wasn’t sitting far from me and just commented about the band being good and we ended up talking. I’m not even sure if I asked him about movies or anything, he was actually doing more talking than me and I just remember at some point music started back up and we talked for another 10 minutes or so mostly going “what?” “I can’t hear you” “say that again”

When he was filming "The Guardian"? Because I worked at the bar that they filmed a few scenes at, and got to talk to him for a few days. Cool guy.
He came and hit batting practice at my high school while filming that movie.

Aside from Kevin Costner I really haven’t run into many famous people at all, maybe some athletes. Never had a bad encounter, Joe Horn and Devery Henderson, when I go visit in laws I’ve seen and talked to Karl Malone. I probably go to Ruston 3-4 times a year and it seems I see him every other time I go. He’s like your typical old black man “how you doin there son?” I drive an old nothing truck but he’ll still say “how you like that truck?” “She treat you good? Motor good?” “Yea son, take care of her” damn near every time
Old black people are my favorite people, hard to find a nicer person

One of my favorite movie lines of ALL time.....
quote:
Annie Savoy: What do you believe in, then?
Crash Davis: Well, I believe in the soul, the cock, the pussy, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days.
[pauses then winks and walks away]
Crash Davis: Goodnight.
Annie Savoy: Oh my. Crash...
