OP had me thinking he was just driving his friends to buy some pot, and shite hit the fan and his friends killed a drug dealer and now he is in jail for life.

In actuality, he was fricking armed and his friends killed an innocent gorcery store worker as they were robbing him

This. I went to school my whole life with the guy that was murdered. I lived 2 miles from the store and my little brother worked there. It was at like 7 o'clock in the morning and you don't just go to a grocery store with rifles and say "I didn't know what was going on." I don't care what family you come from, he deserves to be where he is. I come from the best family you could possibly want to be in and my sister is in prison and you damn right she deserves to be there.

That could have easily been my brother. So I have no sympathy. You reap what you sow.

The story about him is written by him and his family to try to bring sympathy to someone who doesn't deserve it.

Lash at me all you want, but my friend was killed and that rocked our little town and school.

Louisiana does not have the traditional notion of accessory before or during the act - any "accessories" before and during the act are considered principals to the crime in Louisiana.

So - the lesson here boys and girls, "Don't become a principal to a potentially capital offense."

I'm team you now. I am sick that I felt sorry for this guy for 27 seconds before I read what actually happened

A guy I graduated high school with got 30 years, no parole, for being getaway driver for an armed robbery. He was a good guy who got in with the wrong crowd. That being said, don't decide to hang out with criminals.

I hate that this guy is in jail.....but I would not want him any other place, except maybe in the afterlife. I wish jails did not exist but they have to and I am also glad for that.

As others have said, felony murder doctrine applies. All those involved in the commission of the felony can be held responsible for any foreseeable crimes that result in the felony. And before there is someone wanting to argue the point, every court in the country would find that someone being shot is a foreseeable result of a drug deal.

There is almost always more to the story you hear from a felon's family or attorney.

Yeah I'm reading a few articles and it's hard to have sympathy for the guy. Early in the morning, both armed, big guns almost impossible to conceal. I'm not saying Justin isn't remorseful, but that remorse isn't enough.

This I disagree with.

If he truly was in high school just driving his friends to buy pot, I would think he got completely fricked and it is ridiculous he will spend life in jail.

However, that isnt the case here.

I don't think anyone should lash out at you. It's pretty understandable that you feel like that. While I think that poor kid would be gone today whether Justin was with the shooter or not, the fact remains that Justin was there. He made a horrible decision and is being held to the consequences.

I'm just glad to see Justin trying to do what good he can while he's in there.

I wish Justin would have told the cops two guys were heading to a grocery store with a rifle to rob the place, instead of fricking driving them while he held a 20 gauge

That is what I wish justin would have done

you're fricked if someone dies in the process of you committing a felony like buying drugs

Depending on how much they were buying, simply buying drugs isn't a felony.

You worded that like an idiot anyway. By what you said if I'm going to buy 2 grams of weed and the dealer is walking across the street to bring it to me and gets run over by a car and dies, then Im going to get life because he died while I was buying drugs which according to you is a felony.

Now if my friend talks me into calling my dealer and telling him to bring 2 grams of weed and then my friend tries to rob the dealer and the dealer shoots and kills my friend, then I'm going to get life because conspiring to commit armed robbery is a felony, not buying 2 grams of weed. Prosecutors won't even give a shite about the drugs at that point

Guy in OP got life because he was the getaway driver in an armed robbery murder, doesn't matter that they wanted to go buy drugs
