what is the ruling on this? Of course we know all inmates are innocent but could u get life if this story told is accurate?

"Justin made a thoughtless choice to take some so called friends to score drugs. On the way, he was asked to pull over. He decided to wait in his car while these friends got out and at that point he notice something was amiss. What was to be a ride to pick up drugs turned into the shooting of an innocent person that ended in death. It also turned into a 2nd degree murder charge and a life sentence without the possibility of parole, probation or suspension of sentence."

Pretty sure you're fricked if someone dies in the process of you committing a felony like buying drugs.

I'd have to think if he had a better lawyer and ratted on his pals, he could've gotten a better deal though.

Sad story

But we get lumped in with choices of those we surround ourselves with.

This is why you don't hang out with trashy people

I believe he should've been given a lighter sentence. However, when someone loses a life in that way, you deserve to have a harsh sentence.

Make a mistake and your friends steal some beer? Not harsh punishment.

Ride with your friends to knowingly score drugs with weapons in the car? That's where it gets a little murkier

I'd like to know more about the actual trial

I'm sure this website is mitigating his actual involvement.

If he knew the guys were potentially going to rob somebody beforehand, then he should be guilty of second degree according to the law

Clearly a jury felt that was the case

He would have.

Justin is considered to be a compassionate and spiritual human being, to this day people still have a hard time believing that he was involved with what happened, they know the kind of person he is, and that we would NEVER intentionally cause harm to anyone. He is a caring, thoughtful and loving person.

This is a fact. He comes from a great family and was a close friend. A really good friend. It's a very sad story.

Old article

Also look it up a bit. The story and testimony isn't as rosy as his website makes it seem.

Damn that sucks. The dude seems like a good person that will never see the free world again. For a first time offender that didn't really do anything except drive a car and spend the rest of your life behind bars, it would be hard for me to want to live in that hell

It just seems like an innocent puff on a joint at first and next thing you know a man is dead and you're headed to jail

Felony Murder doctrine applies here. If someone dies or is murdered while in the commission of a felony, then the murder charge sticks. Here, he was an accomplice to a drug deal.

I noticed that you never expressed concern for the dead person. Or their family.

From a common sense standpoint it seems stupid. Explain his danger to society bot now, and at the actual time of the incident?

They robbed a grocery store. The victims were shot with a 30-30 rifle. Don't you think he would have noticed the rifle as they were pulling up to the store?
