Jussie's only way out of this is that these two guys hate gay people (not a big stretch for Nigerians) and secretly hated Jussie because he's openly gay. They planned to attack him at some point, and decided to do it when they learned of his whereabouts that night. Maybe Jussie was talking to one of them that night and mentioned that he was about to head out to go to Subway. Maybe the MAGA stuff was said to throw him off because they knew how triggered he'd get. Or maybe they are actually MAGA...
I can't see any other possible scenario that doesn't lead to a staged hate crime.
These brothers' social media page is pretty squeaky clean too when it comes to politics. All they post about are basically self-promo stuff and body-building.

I'm also curious to know when the clothesline was bought. It seems that the cops may have figured that out. If it was bought on the way to meet him, then it seems pretty clear that this was a hoax.

or it's just a personal beef and they threw the political stuff in as an attempt at misdirection. low probability but still possible.

The quote said something along the lines of, "Redacted texts and ride sharing receipts have led to the questioning of two men associated with Smollet"
I thought nothing of it at the time, as this was before there was any mention of any suspects. So when the suspect news broke, I thought it was accurate.
