Local prosecutors will likely only charge him with a misdemeanor of filing a false police report. The only way he gets in any sort of serious trouble is if he's connected to the fake anthrax letter since it will be in the hands of the feds and not the locals.

I doubt he does any jail time, but I cannot imagine that he’s let off the hook without paying a hefty fine related to invetigative costs.

Yeah it seems like his career will be shite in the short term at least. Like other posters said, he will catch heat big time if he is involved in sending that letter with the powder substance.
I wonder if he had anything to do with all those death threats that happened a few months back before the mid-terms to the Clintons and Soros etc. That reeked of false flag almost as bad as ‘This is MAGA country’
