That goes both ways. As a resident of BR, I don't think my tax dollars should go to bail out towns that aren't financially viable. Let 'em go bankrupt.

Let these small towns die. I didn't know Bogalusa was in that bad of shape but I am not surprised. I do know that in Tangipahoa Parish, Ponchatoula is the only city that is in the black and has a surplus.

I see the same sort of thing when I drive from Ridgeland to my mother-in-law's in Bay Springs...lots of rural Mississippi is on life support as well...

it doesn't. But JR Ball is one of those paunchy, douche bags who doesn't give a shite about small towns cause he lives in EBR. So per his myopic, self-serving view, small towns should wither and die so he doesn't have to sit in traffic.
NVM the fact that he could move his pasty arse elsewhere and avoid that traffic. But he won't. So he wants everyone else to suck it so he won't be inconvenienced. frick him. EBR is a self-imploding shithole that will likely (if it isn't already) be fiscally nonviable as well. lets see if he wants to abandon LSU's home when it can't pay its pensions.

too much money being made at the top for us to ever get anywhere on the consolidating the public universities. Blows my mind when they're fighting over the budget and no one even somewhat brings this up seriously....I wonder why.

Seems like the only types of small towns that will survive are the following:
a.) Those with great weather/scenery that are attractive to outsiders
b.) Those with universities
c.) Those which sort of act like a suburb to a bigger or medium sized city.
Small towns that aren't any of those are up shite creek considering young educated people are fleeing in droves.

Don't forget to mention to him that you support living within your means and your dying town shouldn't have liabilities they cant afford.
