Interesting to see if those 14,000 positions get filled when the rally cry is "we expect 10% more output, in the office, for no additional pay"
the parking alone would be a $7200 pay cut if my wife ever go back to an office. Which I doubt they do cause their lease was up in 2020. Convenient timing

Less now than would you think. If empty office buildings would've dealt a blow to JPM it would have already occurred.

I take solace in the fact that any WFH job will be first up to be automated. Enjoy your free time now, chumps.
I just don't think I'll automate my job, I'd rather just keep working from home.

Lots of people worked from home pre-covid. I did sometimes. I kept the exact same working habits through covid, up till now.
Damned funny to watch everyone squirm over it though.

You’re entirely aware that you’re conflating 2 separate circumstances of WFH, and that’s fine.
How would you feel as a business owner, that has thousands of staff on a WFH schedule, only to realize you’re being robbed blind by these lazy and unproductive fools?

NB4 pink collar email answers bitch about muh “I get more work done at home than at the office!!!1!1!”
This is really dependent upon the person. Some people do as good or better at home, and some do better in the office. However, none of that matters if the boss says to get your arse to the office if you want to continue to be employed there.

Dimon is just mad that he wasted all that money on shiny expensive office space and none of his minions give a frick about it enough to sit in it while they make him money.
OMG! That's it! Oh wait you forgot...even after completing the new HQ JPM reported the highest profits in history in 2024 and the stock is up 59% in the last 12 months. When Jamie is mad my 401k balance is happy.

I’ve been in remote since 2020 also and my productivity went up. In the office, there are always coworkers walking by talking and what are usually 10 minute Teams meetings become 30-40 minute in person meetings because people chit chat before during and after meetings.
Also, if I was in the middle of something or almost finished a report or I received an email 5 minutes before I was logging off and I was at home, I would finish up the report or answer the email because I knew I didn’t have e a 30-40 minute drive home in traffic. Going into the office means quitting time is quitting time.
Now I know I am probably on the minority on that but to throw a blanket “if you work at home, you are lazy and don’t work” statement over everyone is just wrong.

No, that would have been you when you said, "any WFH job will be first up to be automated"
I know a lot of people who WFH very productively, and I knew a lot of frick offs who would sit at their desk in the office most of the day surfing the internet.
Where do you work, and why are you on this board on company time?

I would feel stupid for hiring a bunch of lazy fricks.
Don't hire lazy fricks.

I don’t have a dog in the fight but I’d imagine a big reason companies are going away from the work from home model is that it’s difficult to train new talent and impart a company culture over email and zoom.
That and there’s probably a ton of time theft.

I’m finished with work for the day. Currently in my pool, ripping a menthol dart and sipping a Tito’s and tonic.

My JPM shares from May, 2020 are up over 3x. I think they’ll be alright if they don’t get those cube farms stocked up

As a business owner, you should feel like an idiot if you suddenly figured out no work was being done. How do you run a business and not have any metrics on the performance of your business? Did your productivity/output go down when people started working from home? Does it go up now when people return to the office? If you can't measure that, and down to a finite level, odds are you aren't a very successful business.

I have been full remote since 2 years before Covid, and have never had issues with productivity and WFH - my manager has never had issue with it either.
and yes - I do get more work done at home than in office - but i am also a responsible adult and take my job seriously
As I said before, AI will eventually handle all work that can be WFH. Interpersonal skills, communication, and leadership skills will be in demand. That is what the return to work is preparing us for...to determine who's going to provide enough value to keep paying when AI is doing most of the busywork.

It makes no sense. Home or at the office makes no difference

Companies didn't just discover this, they've known it since 2020. They just had to wait for the social climate to change back to masculinity and meritocracy before they had the guts to make changes.
