I think the original thread is anchored, so here is the update:

supposedly gonna plead guilty or has confessed.
guess those who were defending him in the original thread are eating crow shite this morning.

John Paul Funes, the former president of the Our Lady of the Lake Foundation, was officially charged with wire fraud and money laundering, according to a June 4 news release from the Department of Justice (DOJ).
From about 2012 to September of 2018, Funes allegedly defrauded the foundation, causing a loss of more than $550,000.

Well he obviously can't plead not guilty and have everyone dig into what he was really doing with that money.

He said he's sorry
quote:
Funes’ attorney, said in a prepared statement. “He is extremely remorseful for the harm caused to the institution and others, including family, all of whom had no knowledge of any wrongdoing.

The leadership at OLOL is questionable at best. Not really that surprising that someone they are paying over $300k/year to would do something like this.

It's amazing how punchable his face looks.

Used private jet to take family and friends to Tampa and back-nice...but interesting if you read the whole document, references friends in Florida with "close ties" to JPF, JPF sent checks and they sent him $$ back- so he did not act alone-who might they be???

7. As part of the scheme, the defendant submitted numerous vouchers in which he
fraudulently represented that funds were required to pay for home medical care
and other expenses for a Children's Hospital patient. The defendant caused the
Foundation to issue eleven (1 1) checks to Individual A and seven (7) checks to
Individual A's daughter (Individual B), both of whom lived in Florida, totaling
approximately $107,000, and the defendant generally mailed the checks to
Individuals A and B from Baton Rouge. Neither Individual A nor Individual B
nor any of their family members was or had ever been a patient of the hospital,
however. In fact, the defendant had a close relationship with their family, and,
after causing the Foundation to send them more than $100,000, Individual A and
Individual B tunneled the majority of the funds (approximately $63,000) back to
the defendant.

Reading the Bill of Information now. This is just disgusting. I hope he gets beat up a little bit while in prison. The motherfricker chartered a plane to Saints and LSU games using money he said was being used to fly sick kids to other hospitals. God probably knew this and punished us by making both the Saints and LSU lose that week.
quote:
For example, FUNES frequently used the services of a charter flight company in Houma, Louisiana for his own personal benefit, unbeknownst to the Foundation. In connection with the flights, FUNES submitted numerous vouchers in which he fraudulently represented that Foundation funds were necessary to pay the flight company to make time-sensitive "outbound patient transports" from Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital. FUNES gained control of the checks, forwarded them to the flight company, then used the charter company's services for his own personal benefit. On December 31, 2017, for instance, the defendant chartered a flight to take his family and friends to Tampa, Florida, to attend a New Orleans Saints game, and then from Tampa to Orlando to attend the Citrus Bowl, before returning to Baton Rouge on January 1, 2018, at a cost to the Foundation of more than $14,000.

don't know about the leadership, but a motherfricker making $300K annually and stealing money to boot, deserves to be arse raped in prison.
I've got people making 40K a year and raising kids, paying a mortgage, tuition, braces, etc. and not stealing. That he wasted such an opportunity and a gift of a job makes me want to kick the shite out of him.

True. Their “interim” guy in charge of the system, Richard Vath is quite an untrustworthy and shady guy.

Let’s not forget he was funneling money to football recruit families. No one really wants that to come out in trial.
